I feel so bad right now. After a long endurance race I saved then in the process of backing up my save on to a usb flashdrive I deleted my game save instead of clicking on copy but I was so sleepy they both looked the same to me. I was level 32 with about 500+ cars about 90 of them was tuned

Im debating on starting over but I dont know that was a lot of time I put in to this game or just ignore it and wait for Gran Turismo 6.

Wow, I did the same thing a week ago... Lost about 270 cars, 600+ races, lots of golds, the licenses, everything... Just went back into it thinking to myself, this is GT, there is no finishing the game, I can start over and its okay... I was very upset initially that all my hard work was gone, but now I am back at over 100 cars I think and I am starting to really enjoy the game again.

how did you go back? I feel like selling my copy away right now

Just take a break.

Remember when you were a kid and you would game over after such a hard boss fight? Remember how it made you never want to play the game again? But the next day you were back on, forgetting about what you said. Like the guy who decided to go to the bar despite forgetting his last hangover.

I often restarted my game in GT4 just because i enjoyed the early stages of the game when i had no money or cars and had to work harder to win. I understand you must be pissed off but just give it a while and take a deep breathe and get back on it, at the end of the day you play the game for enjoyment.

Oh, I definitely took it with a grain of salt. When I realized I did it I just started to curse, had company over, felt like a complete ****. It was worse then losing my phone, and ending up with a dead PS3 graphics card the week before gt5 came out... Just start playing it, start with the seasonal events to get your level back to 20+ and a large enough bank account to get you rolling. If you need a car or two, let me know, I will send something your way. I wish I had a friend to help me out with it when it happened to me, figure its the least I can do to assist.

PSN: RMOD-Dylan

Will be leaving town to head back home from the holidays tomorrow, so get me added and I will help you as soon as I set up and running. Just take it easy and get your garage back the way you want!

I remember with GT1, my cousin and I were playing GT and we got far. I decided to start a new game on my own. Problem was that I thought I could save my own game, but didn't realize that it would overwrite the other save. Sucks they didn't have save slots back then. Anyway, I had to answer for the crime I committed.

Oh man that sucks.

As Dylan suggested do the seasonal events to get you started.

Ever since the patch I back up after every session and transfer it to my computer, that way at worst I only loose a days play.

Like Dylan I'll be happy to give you a couple of cars to kick-start your re-start.

let me know what you need.

Do as many of the Seasonal Events as you can after getting the money for a Prius and maybe 2K worth of upgrades if you feel the need (ECU, Racing Intake and Sports Cat) and you will be Lv 20 in no time at all. Prius races gets you 200K which should fund more of the Seasonals and you will be away| Do the Loeb event when it is unlocked on level to get the C4 WRC for the last Seasonal 3 Race!

I am always terrified of pressing Delete rather than Copy, so that makes me ultra cautious!

I can send you a Nissan GTR if you want, for the saesonal race, will get you 1 million and level 14 in one race. add my PSN.

i keep all of mine backed up on a flash drive and a memory stick just in case such an event happens ill still have the other one saved and can re upload it from there

I still dont understand why the BIG developers dont allow cloud storage. They have the server space, and even if they didnt have the extra they needed to do it, you can always get more EASY and cheap. A single server with several TBs of data space depending on NAT type or something is rational and economical. Just a matter of user convenience vs price tag and bottom lines. We are looking at a Sony backed product, they have the equipment.

The Nissan GT-R event finished yesterday.

I can send a Stratos from a secondary account tomorrow (I sent a car from it a 5:25 am this morning) which can be sold for 112,500 credits, if you can live with a "duplicate" as want to keep the Stratos there.

I posted this somewhere else, but dude, with the new seasonal events, you can get up to level 21 with three and a half to four hours of "work"
And in that time, you'll only need to do about 4 Aspec races. Three level 0 races to get yourself to level 1 (so you can do the Karting special event), then the rest should be special events and seasonal events.

To OP! Exactly same happen to me during new year! just woke up! and ready to start from fresh then i deleted the same thing. I also blame myself for my stupidity aswell. Thank goodness, those people who i have whom deal with gave me a 2nd chance to re-recieve their car once again. ( Thx to Backup copy thingy)

Hey sh_t happens. Not to worry I'm fairly positive we won't see another GT for some time so you have plenty of time to catch up. Plus now you have all that driving experience.
Laugh it off and drive on.:)

I have the saved game, with a backup in a USB... with a copy of that in my computer... and a copy of that in Gmail.

:dunce: Paranoid :dunce:?

Maybe, but in the worst situation, i will lose only 1 or 2 days of game... ;)

Fellows, do this, it's my advice!

So you lost everything doing your first backup ? That is unfortunate, but why did you wait so long before backing up ?

Sorry, but this is the 21st Century not the 1980s. In the digital age you back up everything important, and have at least a secondary backup for everything really important to you.

Backup daily, or even after reaching an important game point. Then have a secondary backup say once a week, until GT Life is complete.

Im not sure that insulting people is a great way to go about making the experience any less of a hassle to anyone that has done this. If GT5 wasnt important to him, he wouldnt have made the effort to back it up to begin with. Instead of talking down to people, you should focus your efforts on the issue at hand. Someone is out of an entire garage, all the golds, all the effort they went through. People know what they can do, but the fact of the matter is, delete is next to copy, and accidents happen. Consider your high horse stabled.

I have limited sympathy in certain situations. It is similar to saying 'I popped down the shops, left the front door open and now someone has come in and stolen my PS3' - yes it is on that level.

Perhaps by reading this others may now finally take note. It is not even about being security paranoid - IT IS about COMMON SENSE.

What if he hasn't lost his garage though and he is just making it up to get people to feel sorry for him and give him some free cars, this sort of thing happens all the time on FIFA Ultimate Team so it wouldn't surprise me if people on here start doing it.
