Just deleted my game save

But he had not backed it up, this was the first time as he deleted, instead of, intending to back it up. Otherwise he would have had his old save.

I have limited sympathy in certain situations that should be obvious to everyone. It is similar to saying 'I popped down the shops, left the front door open and now someone has come in and stolen my PS3' - yes it is on that level.

Perhaps by reading this others may now finally take note. It is not even about being security paranoid - IT IS about COMMON SENSE.

Yeah, hide behind your monitor. If you said that to me in real life we would have a lovely discussion. Grow up.

So why did he wait so long to do his first backup ?

I bow to your superior knowlegde of every thing, surely you live on another plane of existance to us mere mortals:bowdown:

What if he hasn't lost his garage though and he is just making it up to get people to feel sorry for him and give him some free cars, this sort of thing happens all the time on FIFA Ultimate Team so it wouldn't surprise me if people on here start doing it.
That is a chance we take, you are right, But at least we try and help a fellow gamer and not kick him in the goonies.

Point out anything I have said incorrectly. I am not the one who needs to grow up, though its been a long time since I have been accused of being youthful. :)

Be sarcastic all you like... but you know I am right.

While I understand your good intentions, the problem is even if he is telling the truth, others will see you/others helping him and decide to say the their save has been deleted, corrupted etc to try and get free cars aswell.

It's not about wether your right or not, it's about someone making a mistake and you you rubbing his face in it, i am sure that at some point in your life you've made a mistake as well and would have appreciated some help, not so?

Borrow the appropriate cars for the seasonal events and you can level really quick. It would be a nice jump start.

Quite possible, but it would just be a small minority of people and quite frankly, shame on them, i will still try and help someone if i can

Of course I have, but whenever I make silly mistakes I really do not expect much sympathy. You could say I am rubbing it in his face because he has been a very silly boy.. but then again how many people reading this thread have backups or are making them very soon ?

I wonder why I even come to these or any forums sometimes. Makes me wish I was a forum moderator again. Regardless of wether or not this is true or false or if someone else claims its happened to them, I know it has happened to me and it sucked. A lot of you here in these forums are very good people and want to help, but refuse to. Its just a game, these credits mean nothing, these achievements mean nothing, its all manufactured and its monetary value is nonexistent. To help someone who could use help starting back up again, and is a value to the community in even the smallest of the smallest of a fraction is an honor. Most of you will sit here and argue while in your garage likely sit duplicated cars. Im not saying we all sit here and hold hands singing kumbaya, but a little bit of compassion for a fellow human being goes a long way. Its interesting stumbling back into the forum scene, especially for a game I like so much, but its a little concerning to see the community itself at each other's throats.

Agreed, makes me wonder sometimes if people can't even be 'virtualy' nice, what chance do we have in real life:nervous:

Thanks alot for all the sympathy and empathy guys I really appreciate the response from you all.

After reading this I think I will eventually hop back on and and start my brand new life (man it sucks) in GT5. The tip with the seasonal events is a fantastic idea to level up and get some credits and I guess I'll take it way slower maybe like a few events a day.

If any of you can send me some cars to borrow that would help a ton my psn name is

I'll send you a friend request later today, let me know what car/s you want.
as for the seasonal events, remember they have a time limit to them so don't wait too long.
Good luck mate:tup:

After reading this, i just had to go and make a back up....
I'm almost level 30 A spec, and i just don't gonna do the indy 500 for a second time, omfg how boring.

Reading this has suddenly made me very afraid. :nervous:

i do daily backups (if i play the game that day), keep my previous day's backup on my pc and sync them with dropbox.

Couldn't bare to do all that b-spec'ing again!

I shut my PS2 off too quickly when I was playing GT4 while it was autosaving, and it cooked my savegame. I was PISSSED..... I know the feeling, don't worry its better the second time around.

I dont have many cars TC but I can definitely understand that mistake because of how close copy and delete are..especially if you are in a rush. I backed up my save to USB as soon as the patch hit, my launch ps3 has been fixed 3 times and is now dead again (day after the save patch). If you need a car I will gift you one I dont have a massive garage, hell I don't even thing I hit 100 cars yet, but I will gift you something cause I have been there before and a jump start can make the start over better. Its only a darn save game file to anyone out there overly concerned about the guy lying or trying to get "free" cars so what.

Edit: I got a slim a little over a week and slapped in my 320 gig right after taking out the drive and move the saves over from USB and Im back like I never left. I still have my launch ps3, I might fix it or get it fixed again.

I feel so bad right now. After a long endurance race I saved then in the process of backing up my save on to a usb flashdrive I deleted my game save instead of clicking on copy but I was so sleepy they both looked the same to me. I was level 32 with about 500+ cars about 90 of them was tuned

Im debating on starting over but I dont know that was a lot of time I put in to this game or just ignore it and wait for Gran Turismo 6.

Omg, what a pitty. :(

I can only advice you to find somebody friendly here that can donate you the Loëb car or a ford gt or something. If you sart over.

That way, you can do 2 seasonal events, win 2 500 000 cr. and 18 levels experience with 2 races.
It would bring you back a bit faster than normal.

Also, i could give you the ford gt. I sold the Loeb car myself...
Just yell if you do start over again, pm me or something. ;)

Holler if I can help. If you need a nascar or something, let me know. I will send you something. My psn is on the left there.
C4 WRC help?

Do what I do, backup every other day and have a copy on your USB stick as well as multiple copies on your PC. You do have to be very careful when backup up, but if you do it every other day, even if you deleted it by mistake your last save will not be too far behind!

Hey bro,

I just want to tell you i really do feel for you mate :), i to have just tried to back up my main save and just lost everything, only was 21Aspec and 17 B spec but i have around 120 cars mostly all tuned and some really high quality premiums inc race cars, and have now lost the lot, not to mention about 1.9mil in credits :( all i did was make a alt save so i could give some friends some cars pffth look what happens, i thought i was saving over the alts one with my main /cry lol

I know I'm no where near as bad a case as you but i thought id try and cheer you up by letting you know that your not the only one that had that happen this week! Mine just happened 15mins ago... I had all of the license done as well and nearly all Special events and the worst of it all is i lost my Bugatti Veyron i spent weeks on getting through Gran Turismo world championship.

Anyhow im sure you will get back up there in no time mate, I am a noob still haven't played it that much lol well maybe no where near as much as you.

Just a word to all, don't race for 11hours straight and try and back something up at 4.40am. Not the smartest thing! :ouch:

Dont give up! I've already finishised gt4 a few times and the last ones were the best!

create some fictional "rules" to make the game funnier as:
-you start with 15.000 instead of 20.000
-never using a german car
-beat the whole "that" series with the same car

and there goes on..
