Do you guys mind watching my Gran Turismo youtube video? I want some constructive criticism and I was hoping that some of the Gran Turismo fans over here at GTP can tell me. Also tell me if you watch youtube commentaries or not to see if Gran Turismo is a good game to make comms out off... If there is a area dedicated to videos or media please tell me to move this over there. :) Thanks: here is the video

Also tell me if I should change the dynamic of the videos or something. Thanks for your time. :)

Its....errrm....not....errrm....very....erm....good!

Unlike the poster above me, I am going to give some useful tips other than try to be a smartass.

First off, I would like to give you props for doing this. Personally I would be horrible at commentary, so great attempt. Allthough your speaking has many flaws:

1: Know what you're going to say before you record. That doesn't necesarily mean you need to make a script and read it in monotone, it more means that you need to write down a few notes about, for example, names of DLC, cars, statistics and other main points you want to adress in the video. This will keep you from going "uhhh" or "ummm" and stuttering alot.

2: Don't ramble. If you are going to go off topic, make your point and go back to your main topic.

3: Make a connection between your commentary and the video. While you did talk about route X and other people in the room, there was really no connection between what was happening on the track and what you were saying. Even if your topic is to talk about DLC, you should still be commentating from time about the race and not disregarding what is going on on the track. Maybe talk about what cars are better than others on the track, or how they should be tuned, or maybe do some race commentary. There are many possibilities.

4: Emphasize your voice. Your voice really seems to tail off at the end of sentences (especially the rambling ones) which makes it hard to understand and makes you lose your audience.

5: Make sure the topic is intriguing

6: Keep making videos and practicing. Practice makes perfect! 👍

Take a look at this GT5 commentary. It is very good. I am going to link to this video so it doesn't steal the thread.

It was a very good 1st attempt but writing some foot notes down before recording voice helps a lot.. also make sure that you have facts straight before saying things :) decent job 👍

Thanks guys :) I appreciate all the criticism :D I'll be posting a new video soon and maybe and you guys can tell me if I am a bit better or not. XD I know I ramble sometimes too much so practice does make perfect but I'll let you guys tell me.

First things first, slow it down a little bit. You have alot to say, but when you put it SO close together then it is very hard to connect all you are saying.

You did have fairly good topic coverage and all. You did start to ramble some, and you did say umm some, but over all it was still watchable by content.

i could easily watch more of that if the voice was a little slower and relaxed.
Not bad bud.

Have you written a script beforehand? It might help! :D

Here's the dedicated forum for GT5 videos, since no one has said it yet: GT5 video forum.

As for the video itself, Schwartz38 said everything that needs to be said. It takes guts to do these full voice over commentaries, so 👍 to you. Good luck with your future videos!

Yeah, sorry about my earlier comment, the vids that Schwartz posted is a good example, very clear and to the point with no struggling with what to say or awkward pauses.

Keep practicing!

Although you don't always have to be good to be great! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0TZ_YLQSgg
