i was using a samsung flip phone + ipod touch 4g combo before so i thought the nexus 4 would be an upgrade. it's not really the nexus, it's just android that kinda pissed me off, though i'm slow getting used it to. i mean there were basic phone functions that the android didn't have. and when it comes to media, there were basic videos and music functions that it didn't have either. usually i don't care and especially if it's just little things. but there are so many little things that are annoying or missing that they eventually add up to a very displeasing experience. i hate apple fanboys (well i just hate fanboys in general) and usually put them down but i have to admit, IOS is a better user experience and android OS still needs alot of cleaning. i mean it's a quad core phone with 2 gig rams and i still get random stutters, they need to optimize better.

but the thing that really pissed me off is the battery life, it's horrible and i barely use it. i just might have to go back to an ipod + flip phone combo to get the battery life i want lol. or save up for iphone 5 cause my friend has one and let me use it for a day while he used my nexus 4. i was blown away by it.

anyway, that's my lil rant, anyone else got a nexus 4?

Like what?

and when it comes to media, there were basic videos and music functions that it didn't have either

That's the wonder of android. There's an app somewhere in Google Play that will fix that!

If you're getting stutters then you're doing it wrong. Android leaves apps running in the background for as long as possible (which is usually when a more recently opened app requires that memory). As for battery life, are you leaving WiFi, background data, 3/4G, Bluetooth, GPS etc on all the time? It's best to only have them on when you need them as it only takes a couple of seconds for them to start up anyway. You could also get a CPU control app and set the minimum clock speed to about 300MHz which will be the speed it runs at when the screen is off or you aren't doing anything.

I don't have a Nexus 4 yet (yet is the key word, hoping for one) but I have Jellybean on my Samsung Infuse. 1.2 Ghz, single core, 512 MB ram, but still no stuttering or lag, because I know how to optimise it. It just takes time "learning" about your phone. As for the missing phone features you are talking about, there don't seem to be any. All the important things are there. What phone features does the iPhone or your old flip phone have that Android doesn't?

I'll admit android isn't the simplest OS out there, and it does take some time to get used to, but I've not experienced any of the problems you have mentioned. I've had my HTC Sensation for over a year now and its still incredibly smooth and responsive, no stuttering, just the (very) occasional crash, something you get on every phone.

And as Tesla said, your battery life is most likely poor because you've left mobile internet etc on. I tend to leave only WiFi on with mine and it gets pretty decent battery life, plus it only takes 2 seconds to turn other features back on if you need them. Also, the 'basic missing features' are probably either there and you haven't found them, or they're available in an app.

I get 2 days of stand by with the now and then broswe on internet and email check on my samsung SII with wifi on.

Locking as the OP isn't here anymore.
