about 2 hours ago i was driving my 1993 jeep wrangler down route130 in New Jersey. im in the left lane and up ahead someone has edged out into the right lane.....then the middle. he is trying to jump over my side of the highway and turn left to go down the other. for a quarter of a second i thought "theres no way he could possibly not see me and come into my lan.....e" jump he did. me going idd say 50 and with only about 40 or 50 feet to stop. it had also finished raining 20 minutes before so this was slick. i think the shortest cognitive prayer i can and slam on my brakes.

WHAMMMM!!!!!! .........good thing i had my seatbelt on. i tbone him at a good 40 miles an hour and smash his hole left rear wheel well in; his glass blows out on that window and his rear; i spin to the left 90 degrees; as soon as the car stops i throw off my seatbelt and kind of look in every direction, in a small amount of shock naturally. Then a man comes running out of his house and yells to me if I'm hurt. I'm fine, to tell the truth i don't have a scratch on my body. he then races over to the other man who is Mexican and apparently didn't speak much English. i got scared that being Mexican he would fit the stereotype of not having insurance(don't flame for that one, its very common in my area).

The other driver had a big gash on his head and had to be taken off in an ambulance, it appeared he had a mild concussion. the damaged sustained to my jeep was, ruined aftermarket right front spring; slightly bent axle; a fairly good pushed in right front aftermarket bumper; the right front fender; a windshield that got cracked from some of his **** flying at it; and a hood that has been scuffed up on that side, the hoods not that bad though.

now im at home with ice on my neck because i feel like i have whiplash, and because my doctor told me to put it on. overall i feel i made out lucky.

god i love owning a jeep, who knows what would have happened if i was in some POS aluminum and plastic car.

Edit: i forgot to mention, he was driving a ford Taurus.

Glad you're ok, now sue the crap out of that other driver. Hopefully your car will be ok.

Defensive driving ;)

Bad luck on the car, but be grateful you've come out so well.

thanks for that, yea i hope the damaged isn't too much. it appears all the stuff that got hit i can repair myself, but idd still make the guys insurance pay shop prices for it. also, your sig is hauntingly ironic.

Its good to hear you are ok in all of it:tup: I know exactly what you mean in that statement. I am a flooring contractor and a good bit of the people i work around are mexican, and a good bit of them aren't even here legally. Also like you said allot of them don't have insurance or a legal for that matter. Hopefully he does and you get a check to cover the damage, if he doesn't then you are screwed and won't be able to do a thing about it (at least in alabama, laws might be different where you are). A guy a give a good bit of work to is mexican, he is a really good guy and is here legally. I see both sides of the coin on it because of being friends with him. Allot of his workers aren't legal. The amount of crap he goes through on a daily basis because of so many that are here without being legal and crime and all its a shame because he is a hard working good family man. E.G. he asked me one day if i could go to a city about 30 miles away with him to get his Ford Expedition because one of his workers had taken it and got pulled over with a nice DUI. He couldn't get it because his drivers license is still listed in CA. and they wouldn't release the car to him. So i went with him and man the cops were being such jerks to him. The cop asked him his name and he told him and then the cop continued to drill him about anything he could. Then finally i got pissed enough and asked the cop what his damn problem was. He just looked at me and then handed Jose his drivers and papers and we went and got the car. While on the way Jose was telling me his friend who is legal but doesn't speak english very well yet got pulled over and the cops completely tore his car apart and he couldn't do anything about it. You know if it was your average american they couldn't get away with that. What was funny is i was telling Jose, " man, we are going to get pulled over so fast". He asked why? I said, " well, here is a mexican and a white guy with a shaved head and covered in tattoo's and we are driving a brand new Navigator with 24in rims on it". He just started laughing. He said he works hard for his money so why can't he buy the kind of car he wants? Its sad but true. And don't think im bashing cops because i have several friends that are cops, i even went though the academy a few years back but didn't accept the job. Moral of the story is just because someone is mexican or anyone different that might have a stereotype try not to make decisions without knowing them, if you haven't been a target of it you don't know how it sucks. I know, i grew up in all the wonderful section 8 housing and everytime my friends and I would go into a store together best bet they either followed us around or made remarks to us just because of how we looked or where we came from. And im not saying that you did that, this all just came to mind when i read this....sorry for the rant:cheers:

yea its not that I'm racist or was judging him for being Mexican. it just went through my head because statistics are statistics. the cops however where openly racist about the Mexican driver the the other Mexicans that gather to watch the accident outcome. he gave the other guy a big attitude before he got into the ambulance, but that could have just been because he pulled out onto a highway. either way a lot of jokes about boarder hoping and such were thrown between them.

on the one hand i felt bad about hearing the jokes, on the other i felt very good because it makes the cops even more on my side in the case.

Now is not the time old man.

I know what it's like to get in a crash where the other person pulled some really stupid move. Mine was last November where a car traveling the opposite direction to me decided to peak through stopped traffic to make his left turn. While I was in the empty far right lane going about 40. But the Del Sol was certainly no Wrangler!

Oh your just jealous of my chops:lol:
But seriously, i didn't realize it was that long or there would have been some paragraphs and comma's. Look at most of my posts and the grammar is pretty fair, especially compared to most of the kids that get on here:sly:

Also, when someone hit me while i was in my 70 nova i wished i was in my altima. The newer cars aren't solid for a reason. They have crumple zones and they fold to take some of the impact, my 70 nova didn't....and i felt it! Good thing was all it did was smash in the passengers side fender a good bit, but the other lady's Honda Accord was really messed up. The entire front end was smashed.

Yeah. The thing held up nearly as good as a modern compact in a ~30mph T-bone. Of course everything in front of the A-pillar was annihilated, but the interior and doors were fine. Pretty good for a car without a roof! Oh, and the gas from the airbags starved me from oxygen for like 20 seconds.

Speaking of airbags. If you ever have the chance to pull one out of a car do it. Then take the airbag and dig a small hole and put it in the hole with the bag facing outward. Run igniter wires from the bag to a safe distance and put something like a garbage can over the hole. Now, touch the wires to a 12V source and watch that can go up! It sounds pretty lame but if you do it you will see just how far that can will go in the air. Its crazy how much force those things put out!

Dude that really blows! Good thing you are fine, but sorry about your jeep.

I know off topic but where in New Jersey are you from? I live in Clark which is in Union County its a smaller town right by Elizabeth, Edison, Linden and Rahway.

I know people from New Jersey who rate who good or bad a given place is by the number of left turns they have to make to get there.\

Sorry about the accident, but I'm glad to hear that you didn't sustain any major injury.

Seatbelts save the day. Always wear one kids, just incase this happens to you.

I imagine a 40mph impact would send you through the windscreen. Face first...

 No! I was saying that you meant that. It was a rip on Keef, dude. Don't worry about it.
