hey guys im new here and just got my g25 set up with gt5 :). Just wondoring if anyone will give me tips to drift with this wheel coz i am a real good drifter with sixaxis but im finding the 900degrees really hard.. have been practicing for 2days now but i still dont seem to get it right..

btw check this vid i made a while ago (using sixaxis)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXkTfluV__w

K i think im getting it now but still most of my drifts suck, its like whenever i start a drift i either spin out completely or even if i do hold them then i spin off the other direction after 2 seconds. And when i do make a good drift i cant seem to get out of it properly and go straight in the wall. so yea i need help now and i am practicing alot. best score uptil now with f430 on eiger is about 11k

Ok try a RWD car that's easier to drift. The fezza Cali and 599 come to mind. Take either of these (untuned except for N2 tyres all round) to that large unused slab of road on the oposite side of the start/finish line at daytona and rip it up!. Practice holding slides, changing directions, drifting round certain things etc.

alright thanks man im practicing alot on the daytona but seriously i never knew that drifting would be this hard with the g25 or maybe thats just me..

no , controller users always think it's easier drifting with the wheel but it's a lot harder then the controller
, it's all about practice!

tell me about it!

Haven't had the experience in GT5p, but I hooked my wheel up to Gt4 and tried to drift in a car that's easy with the controller - it was impossible.

dude pat is right. i thought i would just kill this wheel thing when i decided to drop my 6 down a well! Boy i was so wrong. I will tell u since u could use the 6 well enough u should grasp the concept of using the wheel a little quicker than normal. it took me about 2 months and that from what i heard is quick lol. so u got some practicing ahead of u.

here is a vid i made of me using the wheel. I have dfgt. 599 on eiger reverse

and what will puzzle u the most if the use of the throttle, brake and ... shh the handbrake when entering, going through and exiting a corner. so i have an in- car vid that shows how i use the throttle and so on. it should help u cause that is what helped me learn quick!

i am giving u the help cause lord knows i needed it. thanks to lots of member of this forum i got the hang of it quick.

Thanks to Kord, slap, dom just to name a few :)

buddy and remember have fun 👍

Hey Kwentyne thanks for the vids man but i have already seen loads of ur vids on youtube and im really impressed by ur skills man (especially the sl55) , but yea i think drifts with 6 just dont seem to even look so good coz the front wheels are just bouncing left n right (even though u can get higher scores) but with wheel it seems alot more realistic.

So yea i am practicing day n night with the wheel and tbh even with the sixaxis it took quite a while for me to get a proper hang of it so hopefully that practice should help here.

I started drifting in GT5p with my Driving Force Pro, once the pedals crapped out i picked up a G25, AWESOME wheel, just the shifter feels flimsy (i modified for more resistance). But the pedals and wheel feel great.

I think the easiest car to start drifting in is the Tunned Cappuccino. Very easy to control and correct on since it's low powered. I learned on Eidger with the Tunned Cappuccino on N2's. You can use N1's to start off, it's less grip, and the snap-oversteer is a lot less severe.

The main thing about drifting is the speed you are entering the corners and the way you initiate the drift. Here's another wheel vid to share, not the best run, but gives you an idea of maybe how to handle the wheel and recover from drifts. It's hard because everyone has their own style, but usually just adapting the same methods a little differently.

And i know, i need to make a new video, it's been a while, but i kind of lost interest in GT5p, i've been tearing up Live for Speed when i want/need my Drift Fix.

No prob kwenty! :D
By the way shehar, use the racing line as your drift teacher. It didn't take me long to see improvement.

@ kwentyne & sheharyar_rr especially....

What is the aversion to capital letters and grammar in the drifting world?

Just thought a quick reminder of our AUP rules on grammar might be required here, looking at some of the posts above.

GTPlanet AUP
*No slang words that promote laziness, ie; “r”, “u”, “plz”, etc. will be tolerated. Decent grammar is expected, including proper usage of capital letters. Repeated violations will be grounds for suspension and/or permanent removal from the forums.*

Please remember "I" should be capitalised, as should the word beginning every sentence. "im", "id" and "ill" (unless you're poorly ) are unacceptable in place of "I'm", "I'd" & "I'll" respectively. "u" and "ur" are unnacceptable in place of "you" or "your" and "n" is unnacceptable in place of "and" or "&".
There's no excuse for laziness and this is a forum, not a "txt" chat conversation.

Heed the warning in the quote please.

^^ Yes Sir. I will make sure I don't mess up again! LOL I don't want to go to boot camp!

Im pretty sure LOL is a "txt" style abreviation and not allowed.......

What! I am supposed to type "laugh out loud" instead of "lol".... just asking... can I type "hahaha" in place of "LOL"?

Oh sorry for that, didn't knew about that before so I apologize for my laziness.

Anyways back to the topic and there is a bit of shocking news which I don't know why it had to happen now but my PS3 has just stopped reading disks and now I have to get it fixed, so no drifting for me for a while :(:banghead::eek:. Till then my g25 will be hooked up to my PC and gonna be practicing on that :D.

AWESOME driving simulator. It tops Gran Turismo as far as simulation and realism goes. Graphics are ehh, and there are a lot of fake cars/tracks, but the overall play and experience as far as driving feel and utilizing the G25 it's the best i have tried so far (haven't tried a lot so there may be better out there, but Live for speed has a great Simulation reputation and after playing it i know why!)

Well, the video isn't working for me, something about "The URL contained a malformed video ID. " :( But after two months I guess you'd be improved, congratulations! Hopefully my own skills can come along as quickly as well :p

OH MAN I wish I could be as good as this... I clearly need way more time behind the wheel. How often and for how long did you spend practicing?

nice drifting, was that on n1's? Main reason i thought it may be is the long right hand sweeper in 4th gear accelerating pretty much all the way through the turn. N1's are definitely the way to go for points, but for a more realistic feel and reacting car, n3's on powerful cars and n2's on like the cappuccino etc. But thats my personal opinion. Good lines, and nice vid. It's definitely rewarding to pull of nice drifts with the wheel. :)👍

Thanks guys!:) yea it was done with n1s and I can post the full setup if you guys wanna see it and also make some improvements on it.. btw I got really nervous on the 4th and 5th turn so they aren't so good as I hoped but still i'm very happy that i've reached my goal of 20k . Now I have to set my standard even higher and try the other tracks aswell. :D
