Just got my Permit!

Yea. Just went to the DMV and took the test for the first time. I missed 2. But yea, im really happy right now. My driving instructor (whom I have to drive with, but ive already driven before out in the country or in my subdivision) has a Black PT Cruiser Convertible Turbo for my training car. Woo hoo

Thanks guys. I will. Ill be driving my mom's 2005 Sequoia Limited and my dad's 2002 Tacomma TRD 4Dr. But my neighbor wants me to drive her 745Li and Vette on occasion. I feel really lucky for that lol
 
:lol: Congrats. I got my permit this past Saturday on my birthday. I'm not that excited about just driving on the plain rode yet, I hate going 30mph :(
 
Congrats:tup::)! I got my permit in March and I have enjoyed every minute of it. If all goes well I will get my licence on December 5. Remember to practice " hand over hand steering" and parallel parking.:yuck:
 
Heh, and don't be like the typical teen. See my thread entitled "A question about...".

Also, don't do anything fun or stupid, or both, untill you are EXTREMELY used to the vehicle, as in having logged 6 months of time in it. Find some abandoned gravel lot and practice your oversteer correction, and if possible, how to prevent wheel lockup without ABS.

DO THIS! This is important skill. Even if you don't do it now, sometime during your life you might have to drive one, so it's good to know. Besides, you feel more in control of the vehicle if it's your hand and left foot deciding when it changes gears...
 
Yea im gonna learn stick. My dad just has to get his new car when I get his truck. Ill end up learning on his Cooper S.

I would definitely advise against doing anything stupid. Even after you are used to the car. And especially when you want to "push" it.

The Cooper looks like an awesome car. If it is as fun to drive as my GTI is, you will drive around craving corners and going the long way to get to them.
 
Yea, hes gonna get a Chili Red S with the white roof, Audio package, punch carbon leather, iPod adapter, and rims (He hasnt decided yet)

How much questions do you get on the theoretical exam?
And what's the maximum numbers of mistakes allowed?

here in Belgium (and probably in the rest of the EU) you have to learn to drive stick.
If you pass the exam with an automatic gearbox you may not drive stick with your permit.

I really have to start practicing again. I've only practiced like 3 times and it's still hard to know how far you're away from the edge of the road and also braking is causing me more problems than i thought.
 
There were 46 questions and I could miss 8. But missing 2 is fine with me.
 
wait a minute... you have to drive to get your permit?

All i had to do to get my permit was a simple 40 question test. The questions stopped when you reached 15 correct on each half of the test and i only missed one question on both halves.

Even though i got my permit back in February, i still haven't driven at all yet. Ive been wanting to learn on my dad's manaul 06 v6 Mustang, but i have to wait until his chest plate heals (he just had a triple bypass)

Here you get 50 questions, and the minimum score must be 42.
Then you get a temporary permit so that you can practice driving.
After a while you have to go back for a 40 minute driving test before you get your real permit.
 
Thats interesting. Here in Florida you just have to pass the test, then after a year of having your permit you can take the driving test to get your liscense.

The one good thing about living in this oven they call Florida is No Inspections! BB V8 here i come :trouble:
 
here you can take the driving tests 3 months after you passed the theory test if you learn to drive with your parents.
Driving alone is not allowed this way.

But you can also choose to learn via a driving school, and then you may drive by yourself with the temporary permit.

In SC you have to wait six months before you can try for your liscense. Congrats, I just got my liscense a month ago (took it twice-the first time I got nervous and missed it by 3 pts.,the next time I had a perfect score). I want to learn how to drive stick and luckly two of my friends have sticks in thier trucks.
 
I'm allowed to drive everything except a train or bulldozer. :)
