I just got my DFGT and hooked it up..

1. Why did the music that plays while racing go back to the music that came with the game? I had my own music that has always played. I have played this game since the first day it came out. I dont get that. The steering wheel shouldnt have anything to do with the bgm.

2. I love driving with the wheel. The only problem is while going straight down a backstretch or something, the wheel shakes insanely and the car goes left and right. I find this very annoying. I like the friction it has to turn the wheel in corners and such, its that jarring when going straight.

Is there a way to turn that off? whatever is making it do that.

This is the first wheel i ever used for a playstation, and i have played every GT game.

Thanks for your help. I hope i can get the jarring fixed.

Those settings do not affect the DFGT...

Only the older wheels highlighted!!! :dunce:

Yeah..., sorry I did not notice that. I have a dfgt and I changed the steering type and it seemed to make a difference. I am driving better and I feel like like the wheel got better. It is probably just me and I got better with the wheel.

Don't worry, I did the same when I first got my wheel... Placebo Effect lol

So can that jarring be turned off? I turned the strength down to 1 that helped a bit. I got two hands on the wheel, come into a corner and hit the brakes and the damn car spins out because the wheel wants to do that jarring number. i bought the wheel to be able to drive smoothly with.

To ease the jerking / oscillation you have to ever-so-slightly move the wheel left or right, like a few millimetres. This helps a little bit. It's something you learnt to live with, as it's caused by the games physics over-reaction to the speed and little suspension travel you have.

I found setting the FF to maximum helped me learn better, as setting it too low gives you little or no feedback.

Learning to drive on a wheel takes a while, be smooth and calm and the lap times will get better.

That did help moving to the left or right a bit. Thanks for the advice. Im going to try to work with it a bit, but right now its not really what i was wanting and i might send it back. I dont see how you can shift manually because by the time you take one hand off the wheel to shift in a corner that damn jerking causes the car to spin. See what happens i guess. I sure wish there was a way to turn it off and it would be perfect.

Use the paddle shifters on the right and left inside of the wheel, that is how I generally shift manually with the wheel. The wheel takes a lot of practice, just keep at it and do not give up, it may take you a few days or a week to get the feel for it.

Use the shift buttons on the back on the wheel... Much easier!

HA! That works! Much better your right! Thanks alot guys, i figured out the music thing too. Im just doing race after race at Indy, I figure i will practice and make money! Thanks again!

i went to the UCD right after racing Indy and found the Castrol Mugen NSX. Bought it and took it to high speed ring and wow! I really am starting to get used to that kickback, because when you get to the S turns it kicks the wheel back the other way, awesome!

Regarding the jarring at high speed: do you have that with all cars?

If not, it could be caused by having a very fast car with a bad tune/setup. When racing with a DS3 you won't notice this, but once you hook up the wheel, bad setups become undrivable :)

I have a DFGT myself and on most cars I can let go of the wheel at top speed, and it will either go straight on, or swerve left and right slightly...

So far the 3 cars i have drove with the wheel are the Camaro LM race car, Viper GTSR team Oreca, and the Castrol NSX. I havent messed with the suspensions on any of them, and if i let go of the wheel at high speeds on any of them the car will go straight but the wheel will jar left and right until after a few seconds then the car will spin. I want to keep racing it and try other cars but i have to go to bed for work lol.

I dont understand enough about the suspensions and all that to tune them, so i tend to leave them alone lol.

Did you buy your DFGT on amazon? I bought mine early this month when it was on sale for 130 with free shipping, then a 30 dollar mail in rebate. I got it brand new for 100 bucks. Thats the only reason i bought it, once you get used to it, its worth every bit of it

High-powered race cars like that do tend to do that more than "slower" cars, possibly tuning could compensate it, but I wouldn't know how either :)

Got the wheel from a gameshop here in Holland, for a whopping 130 euros, which is about 170 dollars :P Cheapest I found were 100 euros, but none had them in stock, and I didn't want to wait ;)
