Just installed Motherboard,Problem!

Hi I just got a new motherboard from ASUS called the P4C800E DLX. I have just replaced my old motherboard with my new ASUS one. Me and my friend hook up everything(from the looks of it) onto the new motherboard, when it was turned on , the fan and the power supply was on and my motherboard had its green light on. When we started the computer, the moniter didnt show us the part where you are able to press DEL to get into the BIOS menu. And I need to get into the BIOS menu. Also I didnt hear the beep from the computer. Did I miss sumthing plugging in? Is my computer fried?

Also if you are going to ask. I researched this stuff and the motherboard(supports up to 3.2 ghz and HT technology ready) is compatible with my new P4 processor 3.0ghz HT tech.

ASAP help!

As ASAP as I can possibly be...

Start by unplugging everything, but your CPU, ram and videocard (make sure this is seated properly)... Then work your way from there...

Let us know what happens with the above, then it'll be easier to guide you along !....

I had this problem also when I installed my DFI board. I recall making a thread about it here.

What solved my problem was unplugging all of my IDE devices except for my Harddrive(s). This allowed the BIOS to recognize them as the primary chain and let me access my BIOS. Try that, it should work.

Bah! Flerbizky beat me to it...

Ok theres another minor problem.. I got everything to work. The only problem is that my computer restarts all of a sudden. Is it a blaster worm or sumthing? Was my processor overheated(I am using the Intel's fan that came with the CPU)? This problem only happened twice now. I am just concerned.

Not neccesarly. You could have the speed higher than the memory is rated, but the memory would still try to run at that higher speed. That would be called overclocking your memory. That's why it's important to make sure your memory speed is set correctly, so it can run as stable as possible.

Is your PSU supplying enough power to the rest of the computer? The P4 loves to suck up the juice.

Are you running Windows 2000 or XP?

Yes. I have a 430W power supply. And I am running XP PRO. Right now this problem hasn't occured again yet, so its fine. I have just one curious question . When I go to my BIOS menu, there is a selection that says I can overclock CPU up to 30%. I know overclocking is quite bad for your processor unles you have a good coolant. But how much would that 30% bring my GHZ up to on my 3.0ghz P4

EDIT: How do I actually check if my ram is set properly when I go into BIOS.

Not good with math but I think 30% of 3000 is like 900 (thats what Smarterchild says)

So it would be like 3.9GHZ???!?! THATS CCRAZYYYYY. But I ain't gunna do it anyways , not until i get a better cooler.

At 3.9 GHz it wouldn't really even be stable unless you cooled it via liquid nitrogen. Yoshi on The Screensavers(G4TECHTV) overclocked a P4 to around 4.01 Ghz and that was with liquid nitrogen. It was not very stable though.

As to why it is restarting, I haven't a clue. I didn't mess with my memory speeds and never had that issue come up. I left them at stock speeds.

My Abit KT-7 Board was doing that after i installed Windows Xp Home.i turned the machine from the ASPCI settings to standard PC.a few months later it started to reboot again for no reason so i went into the BIOS and turned off the Power Control Mangment Features my board has,no problems since.
