Fanatec and Thrustmaster are basically sold out so I gave up and decided to get a g27 from newegg for 199.

Hope I made a good decision, I guess I can always sell it but I just really wanted a fanatec or thrustmaster, but both have serious low availability right now (csr/csr elite sold out and the t500 f1 is $700 on amazon... no thanks)

I'll be starting up iRacing too for the first time. Hate I won't have xbox 360 support but owell... I can always get the newer wheel down the road after we figure out what the heck is going on with xbone and ps4 wheels.

as far as mods go I'll prob get around to the brake mod with a different spring maybe. I need to research more into modding the g27

upon further research, that mod may be out of my price range for modding a cheaper wheel... Might as well just t500 then (which is what i really wanted any ways but not for the current price and low stock)

I have a T500 now. It's a nice wheel, but it takes some commitment to drop $600 on the wheel, then $150 on the F1 wheel and then $130 on the TH8 shifter... and honestly, I don't think it's that much better than the G27, at least dollar for dollar. I fell into a good deal on mine, and then another one on the shifter... paid pretty close to retail on the F1 tho. =P

The G27 is a respectable base for any sim rig, don't feel like you settled because it cost less. Is the T500 better? Sure. It's certainly bigger and stronger. Is it triple the money better?? I personally don't believe so. That said, if you find one new in the $300's, jump on it. =)

Well considering the low stock on the t500 right now with this new deal with the xbone that thrustmaster has, plus gt6 on ps3 coming out... some new wheel has to be coming which is causing a shortage.

I was watching a t500 on ebay for sake of watching it and it ended at $462 :-O don't even get me started on the t500 f1 on amazon for $700... this is why the g27 makes me feel better for $199 and has a shifter haha

I live near a local store than stocks the T500 on occasion (Fry's) and just happened to nab one when they had had both a price drop plus a open-box-been-on-the-shelf-too-long-special and grabbed it on a whim, and ended up being happy I did.

As far as low stock, I'm sure the new consoles are a big part of it, as obviously compatibility is a concern especially for Fanatec I imagine. Seems like TM has both the Sony and M$ licenses wrapped up, so I'm sure they're neck deep in that, and I've heard MadCatz is going to be making a new XB1 wheel too, and Logitech has pretty much stated that they're going to stay the PC route for now, explaining why they can still be found.
