I'm on holiday in the USA at the moment and I have decided to order a G27 as converted in too GBP it is a damn sight cheaper. My only worry is that as US Electricity runs on 110V and British Electricity runs on 240V is it just a case of finding a plug adapter and then it will run in the UK as I can't seem to find a G27 Power Supply that is UK-spec  Could someone please help me?

Many Thanks,

Tom

You can find adapters at Radio Shack. They may come in packs with adapters for all of Europe but it would contain a UK one and should be $15 or less. If you're lucky they will have a UK only one for cheaper.

Should have gotten a Fanatec GT3rs with Clubsport Pedals.

Don't let post like this get to you, I have a GT3 with clubsport and G27 is still my favorite wheel. I do have a load cell mod on my G27 pedals but the nixim mod works just as good in most cases.
Right now my G27 is on my rig while my Gt3 and CSP are in the box.

You can get one of these. They are called Electrical Transformers. I use it for all my electrical units as they are bought in the USA. It works perfect.

You will love the G27

I highly recommend doing the inverted pedals, stiffen the shifter mod, and NIXIM 2 springs.

well worth the time and money to do these, also does not cost that much to do

I think the power adaptor is not region specfic, only the power cord leading from it is. So any that fits the slot will do. Just had a look and it's the same as the one that goes into the back of my PS3 :) It's not a perfect fit, but I think it works. I'm not going to risk trying lol.

Zoom!Zoom!

You are saying that cause it's still in the box. Wait until you unbox that puppy. g27 is going in the box... I have used a g27 and it nowhere near compares to gt2/gt3 from fanatec. Not what this thread was for but it needed to be put out there.

Let the man enjoy his G27. I have both G27 & Gt2. I have found the 27 works better for GT5, so I use it for PS3. But, the Gt2 is awesome for iRacing.

To each is own with their wheel selection.

Just let you know I had my GT3v2/CSP for over a year now.

I was being honest when I wrote G27 is still my favorite wheel. The one feature I wish the G27 had is the on-wheel adjustments. Since I prefer PC when I have a choice (triple screen) often this isn't a big deal. I prefer software wheel adjustments (like on PC) so I don't have make changes every time I load up a different game.

My sister used to live in Germany and we've had no problems ussing the appliances she brought back home, including her laptop with a cheap plug converter. And since we haven't had any problems when we travel with our electronic devices either, I don't think there should be much of a problem. Mind you, the plug converters we use cost around $.25 at a local hardware store and they've worked perfectly.

Congratulations on your G27, I'm sure you'll enjoy it a lot. It's a great wheel for the price and it's got not much to envy from higher priced wheels like the Fanatecs and the TR500.

Thanks a lot for all of your help guys, i'll pop to some form of Electrical Store when I'm back in the UK and pick a few up 👍 Thanks again!

I'd imagine that they'd be cheaper, wait no, more inexpensive in the US...

If you're not entirely sure, just pick up a few small appliance somewhere in like a dollar store so you test it out before you plug in your g27. If it goes bust, then at least you didn't ruin your g27.

With an appliance he would need a converter and adapter but the G27 already has the converter built in.

Look at the writing on the plug, it will say INPUT and OUTPUT as some of the text on it. If the input says 110-220v or something similar it should be fine over the pond. If it says 110 only then you will need to get a converter or different plug.

I believe the plug is 110-220v auto sensing for g27.

It is, the brick in the cable is the converter built in. Anything with that brick should only need an adapter, not both.

Just got a plug adapter, now here's to hoping it doesn't get damaged on the flight back  Only been able to test it on the software that it comes with on the PC so far, so I have no idea about any problems regarding FFB but everything else seems to be in order 👍 Plus I got a free copy of rFactor with the wheel :D

Later on you may want to upgrade your brake pedal (which would void your warranty) to have a more progressive feel then you have two good options:
A) Load cell: http://www.apelectrix.com/
B) Nixim mod: http://www.nixim.com/cart/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=3
Still G27 standard brakes are good enough for most console games. For example in Gt5 with ABS=1 standard brake pedal would do but with ABS=0 it helps to have the brake pedal upgraded.

I hope you enjoy your wheel as much as I have.

And still no mention of why or where you were here in the States or if you had a good time (unless it's in another thread I didn't see).

I'm on holiday to see family :)

I just got my tax return (thanks Australian government for being so swift) and instantly jumped on ebay and bought mine from a Logitech Australia store on there. $335 with free postage for a brand new wheel. $170 less than any store retails them for ($499+). It'll arrive next week. I'm pretty happy.

Nice man, you made the best choice, it's the dogs! :)

I thought about getting the TM but it is twice as much as the console and I figure what I've never experienced I can't miss. G27 will be great.

Hey, Tom. Glad to hear you've upgraded. No more whiny DFGT noises coming through over your mic! :)

Where did you pick it up while you were here in the states? Did you find a brick-and-mortar that carried it or did you order it online? I noticed last week that both Amazon and Newegg had the G27 for $234.99 with free shipping and no sales tax. I was tempted to upgrade from my G25...

Hopefully you can get it all set up so you can use it this Saturday for karting! 👍
