My partner's out and about at the moment, so I've got no-one to share with - except you guys.

Just finished my first running event - the Sydney Half Marathon.

Yup - 21.1km - basically two laps around the Sydney CBD.

I ran 1 hour 54.55 min - a little quicker than I was expecting, a little slower than I was hoping for - but considering with the crowd I didn't get past the actual start line until about three minutes into the event, and didn't get into my normal stride until about two km (once the crowd started to open up a bit), I was pretty happy with that - enough in the tank to hike up the shorts and pick the pace up at the end.

Not bad for a 31 year old who only started running with any sort of intent just under 5 months ago...

good job , i hate running. I dont see the fun in it. I suppose it would be fun to do the sprints, but not long things. I just...bah!

I know, but I'm trying to really reduce my body fat and really boost my fitness/endurance, and long distance running is about as good as it gets for that.

I hated it initially, but once you get to that point where you can get in a rhythm and unplug your brain it's actually quite enjoyable - when Mum was dying of cancer in February it was great to whip on the shoes, head out and plod along with nothing in your head for an hour or so.

Good job, and yeah no running for me, i'll take the old bicyle. :D

Actually, the old girl's sitting neglected in the garage- have to oil her up and drag her out!

Good job  I do all the "leg" sports... running, biking (specifically mountain), hiking, jogging, etc... Consequently though, I have no upper body strength whatsoever! :D Only thing I don't like is swimming... too taxing, plus I seem to always get sick after being in a pool (probably because of everyone spitting and slobering in the water) :yuck:

I enjoy running... don't ask why though. :)
