Our insurance rep always has something fun when he shows up. Last time I saw him it was in a GTO and he let me take it for a test drive.
I just happened to see him in the building and wondered what he was driving. I look out and to my surprise its a brand new black 2008 Challenger!!!
So I left for lunch and when I came back he was waiting for me. He popped the hood and let me check out all the goodies. Then we went for a ride. The seats were very comfortable which surprised me for a sports car. I was also surprised how well that car went for weighing over 4000 pounds. The seats were also surprisingly comfortable with the perfect amount of lumbar. It had the semi-automatic tranny. You could click left to downshift and click right to upshift. If you let it rev too high it shifted on its own.
EDIT: I forgot the coolest part! It had a button on the steering wheel that switched a gauge on the speedometer. It allowed you to see your 1/4 mile, 1/8 mile, braking, and G force performance.
Good times and just wanted to share. 👍

Cool! I've only seen one in the metal (orange), but it looked pretty aggressive. It was driving (so was I) so I only got a brief shot of it.

Cool I'd love to see the new 08 Challenger in the flesh. I've not seen one in the UK but I doubt it will be a long time before I see one.

At least it'll be on top of the world for a couple years, 'till the Camaro comes out.

I really wish it didn't weigh so much...I think the GT-R is only slightly heavier, perhaps even lighter, than the Challenger, while the Camaro is 300LBS less.

Challenger is 4140lbs (if memory serves), GT-R is about 3800lbs.. Camaro V6 is less than 100lbs lighter compared to GT-R

Challengers come in colors other than orange?

I feel like I've seen the same press photos for three years.

3 colors. Black orange and silver.

Apparently, no one likes silver then. I've only seen a black one in person, and a picture of the Dodge plant shows nothing but orange & black Challengers.

Unless you can spot one.
Try to find a silver Challenger

But, I also personally think the car needs the stripes we've seen to really set it off. I'm not a fan of the car in just plain Hemi Orange.

I know, but driving a V6 Camaro is like kissing your auntie, even if she is youngish and kind of cute.

I've seen one Challenger, a silver one. I wasn't impressed truthfully, it looked utterly bland. Just a big fat blob with some cues from the old Challenger thrown in. :yuck:

Oww.. that hurt.. I'm bleeding inside.

I'd still take the V6 though :p 4 is good, 6 is plenty, 8 is overcompensating..:sly:

Orange, black, silver, red and a charcoal looking colour are all the ones I've seen with all sorts of stripes and other vinyl things applied to them. I still think they are ugly, not to mention massive. I'm sure its fast (I haven't seen anyone give a heavy bit of the pedal on the right yet) but they are just so uninteresting. Either we got dumped with them in this area or the rest of the country just doesn't buy them.

**Forgot about the blue and white one I saw too.

4 is good for a daily hooptie that needs to be good on gas, 6 is right for a family sedan, 8 is perfect, 10's a little big, and anything over 10 cylinders is overcompensation.

8s and 10s are quite big. 6 is perfection; throw on a turbo and it's all you could ever need. ;) In all seriousness, anything higher than 4 is completely unnecessary for a family sedan or basic commuter. I can't believe how many V6 Camrys and Accords I see driving around, especially with how much people harp about gas prices. But I digress.

The Challenger was looking to be my favorite retro musclecar up until its release. The slab-sided styling is disappointing enough, but it also weighs two tons, is currently only available with an automatic, and costs over 10 grand more than the Mustang GT yet can barely outrun it. It would have already been a guaranteed flop even without america's current attitude about gas prices. :indiff:

I hope the Camaro turns out better. I didn't know they were putting the DI V6 in it -- that's awesome. 👍
