A few weeks back we all were victims to SCEA's and Playstations choice to withdraw the online from GT4. But in return they gave us LAN yippie skippy right. Well by using this link http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/ you can download Xlink which will turn your boring old lan into a new and complete online experience. While many ask how I ask y not. What this program does is trick your PS2 into thinking your playing in the same room. But in actuallity your playing against someone 100's or 1000's of miles away. I recently tried this out with my socom 2 hooked up with a guy in South America was very fun we played a couple 1v1 games. And lag was very minimal for him with a ping of BAD as classified by Xlinks ping reader. So I just wanted to put the word out to everyone at GTPLANET Im not trying to spam but I think its really important that everyone here know about this based on the 100's of people looking at the forums.

how does it work, i downloaded the program on my computer but how does it work after that? do u just hook the ps2 into networks hub?

WE KNOW. We have known for AGES AND AGES AND AGES.

Exactly, we already know.

Actually it is the exact SAME as LAN. It doesn't change anything, apart from the person you are playing against is NOT in the same room, only difference. There is no online cummunity like we were told, don't try and dress up LAN play it's nothing special. Actually it is alot harder to use LAN play online than it is to use the "normal" online mode. You have to jump back and forth between your computer and PS2 just to connect for ONE GAME.

Isn't this advertising? If so, the Moderators will lock up this thread. If not, like I said. If you want online, it's this, or nothing.

Didn't GTPlanet.net's owner Jordan say that he was working on something with the Xlink devolopers?

Maybe Ive already gotten conformation from the Xlink Forums that they will have GT4 on Xlink.

Hadnt heard of this, do you have any info?

yeah were (xlink) gonna work something out with Jordan before the game hits its North american retail, we just havent had the chance to discuss the specifics yet.
As soon as the asian version is available well test it and report about it here.

that'd be cool if we could play gt4 "online" when it comes out will be great, even if we gota use that lan thing...i just want to be able to play w/ people w/o having them in my house...

Nice to see a Xlink representative at GTPlanet. 👍

no problem, Thrill31.

I am also interrested in more details about the lan information from Jordan.
