Well i'm just starting my game again. I was wondering what car to buy initially and what things to do first likes mods and stuff.
I realize that htis has probably already been done, but I'm new here and also at the moment I dont have the time to search the old threads to find out if it has been posted before

I think pretty much everyone here started with the Trueno.

A few people started with the PT Cruiser - I haven't driven it myself but I understand it's strong enough to win a couple of the Beginner Series events without modifications.

The MX5 Miata. You can get up to 371 Hp an you can enter a huge lot of series. I got even into the Ammateur GT All Stars with it and pulled out with victory !!
But be sure to soup it up to whatever available...

First of all, welcome to GTPlanet! I started a thread a long time ago about the best car to start off with, which turned out to be pretty popular. If you think it would be helpful, you can find it here. :)

I'll go with the treuno or mazda miata i think. I'll start palying properly tomorrow

My vote is in favor of the Miata. It can be used in more races later on. Not that that really matters, as you'll have about 5 million credits by the time you need it again.

pick the most expensive car you can then tap into loudmusic's jedi powers.

i decided to go with the miata like i did in GT2
well so far i've won the sunday cup and sold the trueno you win. Then i bought the stage 1 turbo for the mazda. Then i bought the stage 1 lightweight modifiaction. Then i won the first race of the clubman cup before completing the B licecnce. Later I'll go off and complete the rest of the clubman cup

I put a stage one turbo and sport suspension, that setup got me through most of the beginner league races, then i modded a miata mx-5. Both along with most of my other 51 cars are totally maxxed out. I still use these first two modified cars if nothing else seems to win. lol. The most recent real "breadwinner" for me has been my clk race car, and my zo6. My vertigo is pretty awesome, but not great for all races. My stage 2 tune Zo6 will run 228 on the max speed test. I've gotten a lot of supercars lately I haven't modded yet, so, I'm not really sure what'll be my favorite car yet. My pt is still a really great car, and getting better the more I race it. :)

Well, when I started, I started with the PT Cruiser. Nice handling, not too expensive, and blows the beginners away after just a few mods. I usually start with upping the HP until I can start winning enough races to buy some supspension and drivetrain ups....but that's just me.

I also started out with a white MX5, just like the one I used to drive ;) It got me a good ways into the game before I had to go buy somthing else. (into ameture leauge where I couldn't keep myself from burning its tires off, and was too lazy at the time to tune on it a lil, hehe) What I've been doing lately to keep fun in the game is I'll take one of my cars, go race it until I have the cash I need to buy somthing that sounds fun, or neat, (like a bone stock 300zx or civic or somthing), then I buy that car. after that I try and deplete whatever money I have leftover on some other car in my garage, (that I don't really play with), so as I will be "starting" my game over with little to no cash. Then I take the bone stock car I bought and run it up through the classes, winning it's own money to upgrade it etc. I'll purposely buy mods such as lightening and such first so as the car doesn't blow the others off the track too soon. I also use the R-type, (my new name for it, hehe), shifting which puts alot of fun in the slower races and makes clutch/flywheel upgrade a must-have couple of mods. When I win a car or somthing, I'll sell it to buy mod's if needed, another car, or use it for another platform to race with. Just figured I'd share all dat ;)
peace,
