And it felt like a time trial because every car had a gap between them of at least 10 seconds. People were spinning, crashing and going at a snails pace in corners. The only driver who actually put in good lap times was the host. He almost lapped everyone during both race sessions.

How the hell do you learn to drive with TC set to 0 in FR cars? I feel like I'm almost afraid of the gas pedal. Every corner feels like walking on a thin line; the slightest misstep and I'm off. I'm playing with the Thrustmaster T300 RS and the stock pedals, which are not great. It's hard to be sensitive with the throttle as there's not much range between low and full throttle. It's very hard to maintain mid throttle when exiting a corner because of this.

But I guess all of this only takes som practice? The host drove a FR car without problem after all.

Yup just practice, really that's what it comes down to. But also tuning has a lot to do with how compliant the car will be to your given inputs at the time. If a car is suffering from snap oversteer try adjusting the rear toe inwards a bit, or soften up the anti-roll bars. Sometimes issues like turn in understeer can be fixed on track by adjust the brake bias around to let the car rotate more. I remember the Alfa Gr3 (4C I think) race car was underivable but when I adjusted the LSD it came alive and was just as stable as the GTR. I as well have the T300 and I usually finish in the top 5 of every race I enter consistently.

I really want some kind of filter on matchmaking for sport.

80% of the people are using tcs, it's a shame :(

It's comfortable to drive with so it's not that strange really. No TC at all demands some serious investment from the driver, which is not really what daily races are about. Maybe it will be different for the upcoming championships though.

I know almost nothing about tuning so this is something I have to practice doing as well. The only thing I change from time to time are the gear ratios, because that's a very noticeable and impactful change. I will get into the other stuff that you mention gradually. One step at a time. :)

It's not really that serious a time investment and I really pays off.
I've done (or started) all the challenges in this game with 0 tc including all the Sport stuff and you can get a lot more out of the car.

Just pick a pretty well balanced car, like some of the GR4's and do some time trail laps on a track you like. You'll soon get the hang of it. Yeah you'll have moments, but learning to control that will help you a lot, even if you go back to having TC set to 1 or 2, having that extra control can really help with lap times and just learning to drive on the limit of what the car can do

4WD and no TC = King

also, remember to check your TC every race.... if you suddenly become slow af its because TC has reset to 3.

Not sure if its a bug or what, but its annoying to say the least when you start the race and you're only able to do a lap almost 2 seconds off your qually lap

I always drive with TC off, I just feel it's more fun and realistic. I'm not a good or fast driver, and yes, I have lost races because I spun out in the last corner (happened last night).

It's just more challenging. And it doesn't make sense that you can come out of a corner hard and just slam the pedal down in a 600+ hp car, and no wheel spin happens (well maybe in the modern super duper hypercars it is possible, what do I know?). At least I wouldn't dare to do that in real life. You gradually increase power.

Also, try to do more turning while slowly releasing the brakes on corner entry. Don't get on the throttle until you can start unwinding the steering wheel.

Maybe FR with TC 0 is harder with a wheel, but I can tell you it's a nightmare with a DS4. It's about 5 seconds lost on Brands Hatch, if you complete the lap. I was racing with TC 5.

FR cars are incredibly hard to drive with a DS4. The Corvette is a dream compared to the Civic R or Megane RS. I would rather drive the Corvette without TC than Civic R or Megane RS

Im a TC1 guy in Sport Mode now. Pretty sure I did most or all of the single player stuff with it off. It's not too bad. But, as a thread pointed out before, I swear the throttle input isn't calibrated right for my G29. It might even change from car to car or something. I can put in like 90% of the pedal travel and get 50% throttle input in game and that last little bit of travel will shoot the throttle input to max. Not to mention my brake calibration is all screwed up because I removed the stupid fake damper thing.

It's weird. Anyway, I've moved to TC1 for Sport Mode because it's barely on. To the point where I don't notice it. And I still have to catch the rear if I'm too aggressive with the throttle. I'd rather not be crashing into people though so TC1 is fine for me.

That depends on the car.

In reality GT4, GT3 and LMP1's all run with Traction Control and ABS.

As such running without TC in those cars is unrealistic.

Yeah I know that, it's just how it feels to me in Gran Turismo. Doesn't feel right, but maybe it's just how I got used to drive without it.

while I agree with the premise that TC at 0 can teach you better car control, the stigma around using it here is borderline ludicrous. GT5 and 6 it was not necessary, but TC 0 with GTSport on the high powered cars is for the aliens as far as i'm concerned .
One is much slower with TC turned way up anyway. Just have fun. Set up private lobby's or series if you want to force TC and ABS to 0 on everyone. You can find members with similar interests. I do agree with those who want a filter for the Sport races matchmaking. I think that's a great idea! Choice.

Besides, i like to mirror real world racing cars anyway and most modern series have abs and tc, so why the stigma?
"The cars in GT3 are designed to have a weight between 1200kg and 1300kg with horsepower between 500hp and 600hp. All cars have a very similar power to weight ratio ... GT3 cars also have traction control, ABS and built in air jacks for quick pit stops."

Yeah fast guys in the real world such as Johnny O in the PWC have their TC up at a high level. And look at his success. I’ll live with my TCS at 2

There was no TCS on gt1 + 2, no analogue buttons either meant either changing the throttle and brakes to the right stick or tapping the X button and praying.

700 horsepower vipers were a real good test of the thumb 👍

So when gt3 introduced TCS and analogue buttons the TCS was turned off and I've never looked back.

TC is pretty useful for beginners, but I have found that I can achieve a bit better lap times with the TC set at 0, but it does take some practice to be able to drive some of the cars with no traction control. I'm no expert for sure, but am always looking to improve my skills.

I have no doubts that GT Sport has a great population of players, putting filters on wouldnt hurt the matchmaking so much, why not give more options for us?

I have absolute no joy in driving with assists. I would even love to play without ABS if everyone on the room did too.

Even IOF, who is probably the fastest driver on at least the americas is using TCS these days. Really disappointing.

Have you messed with the lcs? i can run 0 tcs with no problem, and im using a ds4.

Which race? Race A has fixed settings, but for Races B and C, you can change the car setup. I'm no expert, but previous experience tells me that even some small changes to setup can have huge impact on handling and drivability.... and since I've yet start searching for good setups, I'm not expecting to be much good in the B and C races.

I've not tweaked any tuning in GTS yet, but in high powered or sensitive throttle cars in GT5-6 I used to lower the throttle sensitivity (in the lsd) to enable a better throttle control and application of power. I think it's set to 30 or 40 standard. Drop it to 15 or 20 and see how it feels.

Again, I've not tried this in GTS because I've not had chance to get back on and try any tuning yet. It's just a suggestion.

Oh wow, I didn't know this was such a big thing. That's a really in-depth video that describes exactly what I find so difficult to adjust to. I thought it was a problem with my pedals but fortunately it's not. Let's hope PD corrects this in the future!

Oh, I was just doing some random lobby races. The guy hosting the races had some real hardcore settings on, which threw me off completely. I was driving the Genesis Gr. 3.

Will try it out. Thanks for the advice. :)

Same behaviour (+ extras) was already on GT6. Only differ was ability to change response by changing clutch in game, standard-, double- and triple-clutch had all different throttle response curve on GT6.

Stick with TC at zero... then reduce LSD accel to something around10. This will reduce the oversteer.

Don't add more rear toe as this just causes understeer.

Most important thing is to have as little lock on when you get on the gas - the less lock you have on the more throttle you can use.

Ah yea weird. I kept seeing this video posted but didn't watch it. Didn't realize what it was about. This is exactly what I've noticed (and mentioned above) about my G29 pedals.

I'm not entirely sure its a bad thing as it makes it easier (for most people I'd guess) to gently roll onto the throttle without losing traction.

I absolutely love the quick menu that is built into the HUD now, I wish there were a TCS menu in there to quickly turn it off or on because sometimes I like to challenge myself with TCS off but other times I don't mind having it on esp in cars where it's normal to have it. If this GT had classic cars like 60s muscle cars any and all electronic controls would be turned off on those rides for sure.

Real-life GT3 and GT4 cars do have traction control, and as such I have no problem in using myself. I'll try and use the lowest setting possible for the car as obviously the less it intrudes on your driving the faster you can go, but I'm not wedded to the idea that turning it off is the most 'realistic' option...

I agree tc0 is pretty hard with a ds4, but after getting used to the triggers (I played every other GT game with x and square), I am able to drive with tc set to 1 for most cars. Anything more than 2 is really slowing you down.
