kart crashing, careful!

Last night when playing GT6 I got into the kart racing in the B class. Every time I loaded it up though, every now and then the game would just freeze up and I had to restart my PS3. This happened 4 times in a row with me. Luckily none of my data got corrupted or anything, but if anyone else is having this problem, it only appears to crash with karting. So just a heads up on that one guys. I've got an old fat PS3, so that may explain my problem too, but yeah just a heads up for y'all! :gtpflag:
 
i have not had this problem, have you tried turning your ps3 off then on, just a suggestion
 
I didn't have this problem either. I haven't had this game freeze at all actually.
 
I have had this problem, I got 2nd on Autumn Ring Mini in B class then when I went to race again it froze, could not do anything but unplug PS3, happened 3 times in a row and I am not doing it again, shame as I only have 1 star to aquire in B level.

Oh and I have a slim 320gb PS3, not a George Foreman Grill original

Ive been playing for about 12 hours straight now and it hasn't crashed on me once...
 
I have the same problem. The first race went fine, but the second one crashes my system every time I try to load it. Haven't tried the third one. Its a shame, really, because these are the only two races I have left in that stage.
 
Just went through the first race of sunday kart no problems. Fat 80 gb stock ps3. This us what you unfortnuately get by modding stuff. I mean one way oe another these old consoles had to have some kind of modification...

Me neither. I don't know if it's relevant but I cleared a lot of data from my HDD prior to playing GT6. I even deleted a huge GT5 file. I got a Phat PS3 at launch, now using a slim, and I remember any corrupted music or picture data stored could compromise the whole console?

Trimming away excess data on your PS3 might help?

I did clear myself an extra 9 or 10 gigs of data beforehand
 
I finally managed to finish race numer 2 & 3. I manually restored my filesystem and the second race started with no problems. The third did crash my system again. After doing a lot of other races and licenses, i decided to give it a try and it went fine.
Seems like pure luck to me...
But obviously, restoring the file system is worth giving a try. For all who don't know how to do that: Turn your PS3 off. Press the power button on your PS3 to turn it on and keep it pressed until the system turns itself off again. Then press and keep the button held down again. Now your PS3 turns on, beeps once, then beeps once again and then beeps twice. Now immedeately release the button and follow the onscreen instructions.

Finally I found someone who has the same problem.

I can neither start the Kart Space I nor the GT Arena race in the Kart 100 b-class event without crashing.

I don't think is has something to do with the file system though.

Starting a single Race on Kart Space I with the Kart 100, crashes my PS too. Must be a bad combo.^^

Could you try to start a Kart Space race with the 100cc Kart and see if it will crash?
