Kart racing folies

With gran turismo go karting makes a first time appearance in the series and i sure hope it is not the last. Im enjoying blasting around the classic favorites in a new form. I mean when you go around the tsukba circuit and it feel like the nurburgring its a great feeling. So playing around the karts some more i found out Reverse gear is just has fast as D gear. So playing around i actually won a race online while driving backwards. And low and behold its actually faster to drive the kart in reverse just be cause of stability reasons alone. So i have the worlds first win in reverse on GT5 :dunce:

Any one else having a great time with this game like I am?
 
Karting is a blast! First thing I did when I got the game was go Karting. I had hoped there would be more championships to complete in gt mode for karting
and more tracks suited to karts as well. luckily, the course maker solves that problem. I created a bunch of tracks with lots of high and low speed corners.
Tons of fun. I race Karts for real and for me it's all about the high g cornering.
hope they keep these karts in future GT's.
 
Karts are awesome. Last night we were playing two player. We chose some of the smaller tracks and created a few of our own and were racing karts vs cars. Sooooooo much fun. Mostly the FT-86 vs the PDI Kart, no aids and it was a blast. Really wish there was a replay feature for 2 player.
 
While I haven't won a race in reverse yet :) I have thoroughly enjoyed the kart races A LOT! I've always wanted this in GT and to see is arrive is great. I just hope they do even more with it in the future. 👍
 
Karts are such a blast, I can spend all day generating Kart tracks and flying around them.
 
They actually did a real good job with the karts. It really handles like a kart. My son and I got into kart racing at the end of this year's season.. He's 7 and he jumped on my ps3 and placed 1st in some kart races. hahaha... It's pretty awesome.. I'm hoping to use this as a training tool to help him with next years season.
 
I'm loving the karts as wel, and I think they made the physics and whole feel of them very realistic, having done plenty of carting myself.
 
Its great to see people enjoying the karts, another small touch that adds to the game. I cant wait to try them out for myself. I assume you can take these around the ring? That has got to be cool. What about at night?... no headlghts :D...

Well thats cool. In PD defense i dont really see it as a bug since they only have 1 gear and no shifting is involved. If this were a shifter kart then id say its broken.

Yeah track editor will really keep the karting spirit alive.

I'm sure it can't be the worlds first backwards win in a kart in GT5, because a video has been posted somewhere around here from a dude here doing it a week ago....

When I found out PD was including karts, I was disappointed. I thought, "why doesn't PD spend that energy making other aspects of the game better?" But, when I got my copy Saturday and went to the Special Event on Karting, I was really gratified. Kart racing iz teh bom! Seriously, it's a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to making some courses specifically for karts.
 
I like the fact that they included detail like animating the driver's feet as he operates the pedals. I do enjoy karting races, and I've also won a race driving backwards in a kart, it is quite a bit faster :)
 
I love karts in gt5, I race karts in real life so mine has been repainted and renumbered to represent mine, green number 16 it is then. ;)
 
I really hope they fix the driving backwards bug before the time trials go online. I've been giving it my all on the autumn ring mini with a kart and if I have to do it ****ing backwords to get a good time online I'll be pissed!
 
Did you know that they were racing at Monaco on that crash?
Another useless piece of information taking the place of something which may be useful in your brain.

Anyways we have the full track to play on in this.

Maybe we should start a Nurburg Ring Karting leaderboard :D
See how fast we can do the ring!
 
Am i the only one that sucks at the advance level in karting. I keep getting spin out of control by the AI. Any Tips?

Hear, hear. Karting on the 'Ring is a blast. And it shows how rough surface-wise that track is. The bumps for a kart are its major challenge. I managed it around first time in the PDI in 11:10.414 with 3 spins, one bump-induced in the second sector and the others at the main and mini karusels which require some caution even though in theory they can be taken flat.
