http://g4tv.com/games/ps3/42533/gra...The-Kazunori-Yamauchi-Gran-Turismo-Interview/ G4: What are your plans for Tokyo Game Show?

Yamauchi: At E3, we showed a concept video and this time at Games-Com, we have a playable demo with damage, and I think you can expect a similar major advancement at TGS

.G4: Are we finally going to find out a release date?
Yamauchi: I think we actually talked about having some thoughts in the beginning, but with things changing as they happened all through the interviews today and I?ve kind of have learned through experience. I try not to talk about the future too much because that ultimately leads to a more obvious answer and it?s better than way in the end.

LOL WTF does that mean?

I'm not sure whether Kaz does not do more damage to the whole issue of GT5 with these riddles than he generates interest. I am aware that mystery is a part of marketing, but with the little amount of solid information we have, I see a lot of people jumping off the GT bandwagon because they can't be bothered anymore.

Translation - I was thinking of giving a definite answer to this question but have changed my mind. I think it is best that instead of telling you what to expect that it would be better to leave it as a surprise.

That is my take on his comment about the release date.

Okay.

So there seems to be something lost in translation? Can you native English speakers say if those sentences make any sense. Most of it is quite confusing to me...

Also, that "concept" video mentioned might oly be called that because of the translation? Kaz really need to learn English. :)

He does seem to 'confirm' DLC for GT5 at least. I'm sure most of us already expect DLC, but I don't know to what extent it's been 'confirmed'...

G4: That also opens you up for potential for downloadable content for the PSP version. Is that something that you’d like to do with this game?

Yamauchi: For the PSP version, we’re not considering any additional content that’s going to be downloadable.

G4: Is that because you want to focus your efforts on GT5?

Yamauchi: One’s a portable device and one is a fully online Gran Turismo. There’s a design difference there. That’ll be something that will be provided in GT5.

G4: When you first showed off Gran Turismo 5 at the Tokyo Game Show, you talked about two different versions of the game. What happened to that whole concept? Why did you scrap it and move towards Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and then just one version of GT5?

Yamauchi: You know, when you announce something, you don’t know everything that’s going to happen from the start. You come to realize the things during the development that lead you in different directions, and though I had a lot of things in my mind when I started out, you make new discoveries in development and it takes you into different directions. I think it just evolved in development.
What is this referring to? I was hoping there would be a more expensive version so I wouldn't have to keep paying for DLC...

the "winds" did - 2 options, one with higher sacrifice blah blah I thought these might be the 2 options being discussed

I would suppose there will be free upgrades and updates like in Prologue and "download packages" of certain groups of cars or tracks you need to pay for. Just a thought...

Boy, I don't know about that. It seems like every day we get nearer to TGS, traffic bumps up a lot with every news item, here and at NeoGAF. It really looks to me like a crowd is gathering.

I am going to buy the more expensive version, but If I were able to enjoy cars and tracks in GT5 which couldn't be seen till GT6, I would like to even pay.

.....Jesus.....

If I were the interviewer I would be patient polite and respectful, but on the inside I'd be rolling my eyes at comments like that. I'd be thinking "If you didn't want to answer my question you could have just said so."

That "answer" had absolutely NOTHING to do with his question. In 100 words or less he said .... nothing.... I don't know if I could do that if I tried :dunce:

Look at just about every other major game in the PS Store.. their DLC is pay for use. There is no reason GT5 would be any different. Its a revenue maker and PD would be absolutely foolish not to follow the others down this avenue as it makes good business sense.

That's because most free DLC comes in as an update. When I got Burnout I had to download over 600 MB of updates, and at the time only a couple of paid for DLC packs had come out.

Thinking about it, the only free DLC I believe I got from the PlayStation Store are LBP stuff and Rock Band/Guitar Hero songs.

Also, no other game series has given us a free game that was more than a demo like GT HD.

Is it complicated to say ''you can expect it this year''? And that's it everyone is happy and you confirm the exact date a TGS. IMO KY would be a good politician. :D

I think he's basically saying that he'd rather not say when the release date will be revealed because things can change. So the offical announcment on the release date may be at E3 but he won't confirm that in case something happens that changes thier schedule which is sensible.

Yeah, KY would be a great politician because he messes with our head so much with a single sentence of his.

It is laughable how little info kaz gives these poor guys. One thing's for sure, he doesn't want to say ANYTHING about GT5. Let's hope it's because he's holding a royal flush :scared:

:odd: So being obvious is a bad thing? Kaz, you confuse me.

Well said. +1 👍

That is exactly what I read into his comment. The TGS this year is going to be the big GT5 blow-out we all have been waiting for - the full feature list, the release date, a new trailer and possibly a reveal of the Collector's Edition! :sly:
