Keep getting disconnected

So for the past few days I've been getting disconnected from the internet on my PS3 which is odd since my sister has a laptop and it runs fine while the PS3 isn't. It even happens during a seasonal or when hosting b-spec races. I've heard that you can do something when running a wireless connection to prevent this from happening but I'm a complete noob when it comes to computers so I don't really know how. Since there's "that" update looming near I'd like to get this sorted out before then if possible. Thanks to anyone who can help out.
 
Yes, i've had this happen multiple times, try the following; in order:

1. Turn off everything else besides the PS3 that comments to your router. Laptop, iTouch...etc

2. Reset your router. Unplug the modem and router, wait 30 sec, plug in the modem and wait for it to fully connect to the internet. Then plug in your router.

3. Turn on your PS3


This seems to work for me 👍
 
Not for me....I have this problem all the time.
 
Same with me.

For the last week or more I've been disconnected practically every time I've logged on at least once. It's especially frustrating when you're in a competitive online race doing quite well then suddenly..... black screen :irked:

And I've reset my modem by unplugging it as well - it makes no difference.
 
I've been doing the modem reset for pretty much every time I turn on the PS3. I had to do it again today as well. It doesn't work. :(
 
With this being the case I would call my provider and tell them, don't ask them, but tell them to fix it. My provider is Verizon and they blame everything on the "lets restart the modem" the other day I could not get email from two other providers, Verizon said they were 3rd party Co. and couldn't help me... Well it is fixed now. I think nice is not always the way to go!:sly:
 
Having the same problem too.
Im in UK and its not just PSN. XBOX LIVE is having disconnects too...about every 5 minutes!!
Internet is fine tho...no disconnects at all.
Seems to be a global gaming problem...looking at all thre forum post about.
Re setting router dont fix it , in my case.
 
This is what you guys need to do:

1. Make sure that your router is set to NAT2 (and not NAT3). This is so important! NAT3 will get you disconnected all the time.

2. If you know how, set your router's DMZ port to the IP address of the PS3.
3. If you can, don't use wireless, use a wired connection. If you don't like to run wires all over the house, use this.....http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833122233

By the way, if you are using a wireless connection, make sure no one turns on the microwave while you're playing online. You will get disconnected!
 
I get this problem alot, still not found what causes it, and if im not getting disconnected im geting players not loading so they never apear on track when in fact they are, no idea how to fix either unfortunatly, ive tryed all the recomended "fix's" but none of them work.
GT5 is the only online game ive had constant un-fixable issues like this never had a problem with GT5 Prologue. And before people ask me yes I do have NAT Type 2
Wired connection.
