Keep getting "you could not entry" message in lobby

Im in a open lounge, they are in free run, telling me to join so I can race, I click 'Go to Track' and I get a 'warning' message that says "You could not entry."

What the hell is that? Why is this happening?
Any solutions please?

Reminds me of "All Your Base Are Belong To US!"
 
That happened to me once when it was a kart only race. The host switched back to normal cars and I was able to join.
