i just won a sprinter shigeno in the amature FR series, when i saw that it was worth $125,000 i thought great i'll sell it and upgrade my other cars. then i realized if it's worth that much, it must be really fast. well, i have a base sprinter as my first car that is upgraded so it's actually faster.

should i bother keeping and upgrading the new car and use it in the '80s cup or just sell it, pocket the cash and buy another '80s car that's faster out of the box later, like an old school skyline. is this car really worth the $125,000 or are there better '80s cars for less? my only thought is that i can't buy the car later if i want and there's no other place to win it, so i should hold on to it.

on a completely different topic, my cars seem to gain hp after i mod them. is that normal?

cuz this car is one of the cars that cannot be won ne where else.. unless your THAT desperate for the money.. but i still wouldn't sell it cuz this car is nice for drifting.. ;)

it's not really THAT fast...but definitely keep it. you'll be glad you did after you have the resources to mod it.

is the car that good? i'm not desperate for money, i could just run through the beginner world championship again. unless the car is pretty decent, it seems like i could just buy a cheaper car, mod it and have a faster car for the same money.

i already have the base sprinter that i could use as a drifter if i wanted to.

it's not so much that it's a great car (it is pretty good), but that it will no longer be available in your game. once you win it, you've got it. you can't win again or buy it at all, unless you restart.

Although I dont see the need to defend this cars abilities because about a dozen people on these forums jerk-off with the trueno's tail pipe in mind. The SS Trueno is actually worth about 125,000 cr. First of all, it weighs something ridiculous like 1850lbs, secondly, it has a 5 digit redline, third of all, it has a turbo that brings it up to an incredible 387hp and it has a power to weight ratio that is MUCH better than most cars in your garage. But most importantly, it has downforce, something you can't add to any car in the game, dowforce makes the HUGEST difference in GT3 and in Real Life, its like putting T15's on your car (if you could).

This car is apparently also good at driftng, but who cares about that. Not, me.

so much for making up my mind. oh well, i think i'll keep it, i can get money other ways, but i can't get that car again. i just wish all the stuff i have done to my other sprinter could be transfered to this car.

any comments about my cars gaining hp?

The Shigeno is probably one of the best LOW horsepower cars. Keep it. You have room for 200 cars in your garage. It won't take up too much room.:D

Keep that car :D If you want to have all the cars at the end you'll have to keep it. Plus, it's a really good drifter ;)

Gil - I definitely have to agree with you,it IS one of the best low horsepowered cars..and like everybody else has said,I'll say it too,you can only win it once!so keep it!it's like that Spoon Civic I won a loooong time ago, which I still happen to have by the way =D,hehehe!you can only get these awsome cars by winning them once!so unless someone else has a copy of that car,I wouldn't risk sellin' it..trust me,skill is actually more important than money in some aspects,so keep that REALLY awsome car!!and the best of luck to ya!

P.S. oh yeah,by the way..this is comin' from a guy who is so called "obsessed" with not just the original Trueno, but especially the Shigeno Version, hehe!

One assumes you're talking about after having driven the cars, post modification?

One of the better-known features of GT3 is that your cars will gain some horsepower during a running-in period. They'll climb 3 - 5%. Also, when you run for too long, your oil becomes dirty and horsepower is lost. Most of this can be recovered with an oil change. You will find that your car will climb to 105% of its 0km HP, and then settle back down to about 103%.

Giles, I agree, but I've also heard that prize cars come with the broken-in HP number right out of the box. This seems to be borne out by the fact that prize cars appear to have a little more HP at zero miles than the same car does when bought from the dealer.

Doing the 'virgin oil change' trick adds 5% to your base horsepower number for any new car, prize or purchase.

On the original topic, keep the Trueno SS simply because you can never get it back. It is fun in stock form.

Note that the AI Trueno SS in the Amateur 80s Cup is far from 'stock'. I ran my stock prize-car Shigeno against it, and he walked away from me on the straights at R246. Rather than modify my Shigeno (I don't like to mod the unique cars), I went back with a 312-hp, lightweight 3, 1.8 litre turbo MX-5 on T4 tires (my first car!) which was a very even duel with the AI Shigeno. I won R246 by 0.4xx", R5 by 0.9xx", and Trial Mountain by about 1.7xx" in a race where the lead changed hands about 6 times in the last lap. A lot of fun!

Ahhhh yes I remember this, although I was battling the Shigeno with a standard Panda Treuno with na tune up to 275 bhp it was R246 reverse right. Remembering that race makes me want to restart the game for the third time.

Personally I prefer my standard Panda Treuno with stage 3 weight reduction. But the shigeno is a nice car, I have 2 of them because I traded the other one from somebody else`s save. One stock and another tuned.

Although I prefer my panda one.

I did the 80's Cup with a Yellow 2 Seater 300ZX, not one of my favourite cars but it didnt have any trouble with the 80's cars, I believe it had 435hp.

Hey Race Idiot, you can also create duplicates of cars by going into "Trade" on your own memory card.

Yeah I do that all the time, but my shigeno on my current save had some miles on it and it was tuned and I also wanted a stock one with 0 miles on the clock (Im a perfectionist like that sometimes)
