Keeping cars under control at top speeds

I've found that when i'm driving my F1 car or Nissan R92CP around the test course or any other track with a long straight, they just seem to start vibrating erraticly and spin off the track. I was just wondering if anyone knew what settings i need to change to stop this?

I've got a (black) GT-one with rigidity refresh, but it still starts vibrating at a little over 440 km/h (!). It would probably be hard to tell just looking at it, but the tires make little squealing noises and the lateral force gauge vibrates back and fourth (just to either side of 0g) very rapidly.

Well, you are at 440 km/h, what do you expect?

Imagine the wind force that your car is under, then you may realize why it vibrates so much.

rigidity refresh. i had it so bad that tapping it left or right at high speed sent it flying :(

Yeah, but why would his F1 car do the same thing? They don't lose their rigidity. I've never had this problem, that wasn't caused by needing a rigidity refresh. Couldn't tell ya.

exactly, thats a tricky predicament

Perhaps you could slow down a bit - 440kph is more than enough for anyone isn't it?

Arghhh, what am I saying - slow down? :scared:

Maybe just restricting yourself to a top speed just below this is the only option? :)

Are you using stock suspension settings, or do you have it slammed? Because at high speeds you're generating massive downforce, compressing the suspension. If the suspension is compressed all the way down, your spring rates appraoch infinite and the car will become unstable, especially if the chassis strikes the ground.

I whacked the wall at superspeedway once in my F1 and it was unstable at speeds 200-210 mph but it was only for that race.

Me? I think mine was ~20mm above minimum, and I increased the spring rate a little to avoid bottoming out (downforce was minimum, but that's still probably a lot).
I realize 440 km/h is a lot, but why would it so suddenly start doing something strange at 441 when it was completely normal at 439? It doesn't appear to go away when I'm drafting either. (although it's not like one can draft for very long at that speed :sly: )
