Keith Emerson R.I.P.

Sad to hear of Keith Emerson's passing. It is especially sad that he took his own life, and according to his girlfriend he was plagued by anxiety regarding his ability to perform to his own stratospheric standards after suffering several health issues including nerve damage to his hand from years of playing keyboards. Keith Emerson was known as a particularly flamboyant and energetic performer - I never saw him live myself, but having spent my teen years listening mainly to prog rock, it was obvious that Keith Emerson was something of a one-off. I used to listen to Alan Freeman's "Saturday/Sunday Rock Show" and derived most of my music taste from that show - Freeman was clearly a massive fan of Emerson, Lake and Palmer as they were frequently played on his show - he even used clips from several ELP songs in his own jingles, notably 'Karn Evil 9' and 'Hoedown'. ELP were definitely one of those bands who were derided, belittled and vilified by self-important music journalists and DJs who declared the entire prog/art rock movement to be uncool and worthy of ridicule. Keith Emerson's legacy and music will serve as a permanent and well-deserved "🤬 you" to the lot of them.

Just thought I would share a little of my band doing Karn Evil 9 way back in '98. This clip is 3 songs and K9 doesn't start until just after 5 minutes in. Too bad we stopped doing that tune because I do recall my brother telling me when we started playing it, people completely stopped what they were doing to watch. Not exactly a song you hear local bands doing these days. Unfortunately not even us anymore.

Whaaat? So do a slow burn, that's a great performance! If not now then when? :D
Thanks and I wish we could bring it back but even IF i was able to get the guys to do it again, it would most likely be a "one time" shot unfortunately.

Not trying to step on any toes on this thread so I apologize in advance to @Johnnypenso if I'm "hijacking" but just curious what people favorite Keith Emerson's piano/keyboard solo is.
One of mine is off the beaten path and may be "taboo" for any true ELP fan which I certainly am but check out the 4 minute mark in "Hand Of truth" off the "In The Hot Seat" album.
