Yeah I agree there, but I'd let that pass since they are clearly just to improve its aerodynamics.

The wheel covers are known as Moon Discs after the late hot rodder and supplier of them Dean Moon. They were introduced for use on Bonneville salt flats racers and there was a craze for fitting them on street hot rods so it is period correct to have them on this car - I agree with both of you that it would look better without.
