I think this is really cool. It'd be interesting to see how Kenny gets on in an F1 car.

Publicity stunt, obviously, but it will still be interesting to see!

Does he know that F1 cars don't have handbrakes?

Hmmm, should be interesting just like the seat swap coming up

Although Ken has no experience in a Formula 1 car, it might end up quite funny :)

Oh please, you all know he's going to jump the thing!! He can't let Tanner Foust hold the record with his Hot Wheels truck so what better way to do it than with an F1 car!! :D:p

tricky with the aero.. if he jumped it probably end up upside down

Might be interesting to watch, nothing more to expect really.

However one thing that still is missing for Formula 1 is a competitive american racer, that would help the brand grow up significantly in the US after the USF1 deception.

I dunno. At one point I might have agreed, but I'm not so sure. I think part of the US's inability to get into it is that we really have no participation, with neither an American team, American manufacturer, or American driver to associate with, but I think a huge problem for F1 is that it isn't American. Americans are strongly xenophobic. Not only does it suffer from not originating in the US, but also because the races are everywhere but the US (even once we get a US GP again it would still be just one race), and the drivers aren't from the US.

What's more, F1 is basically the exact opposite of American notions of what auto racing is and should be. Ask a typical American race fan what should be changed about F1, and they'll list things that essentially morph it into NASCAR. F1 is basically the opposite of what they want.

However, on the plus side it seems that NASCAR is gradually losing fans; at least in terms of younger demographics, from what I've read last year. The older fans will eventually die off and need new younger fans to replace them in the future, but I read that their viewership among younger groups have been declining. Perhaps younger race fans are increasingly interested in other forms of racing.

You're funny!

Why must everyone hate on Nascar? :nervous:
I feel sorry for Pirelli, in terms of tires.

You really should check out the current MotoGP schedule and rider lineup.

Also, most US race fans that don't like F1 mainly hate the politics that are rampant in the league. Not to mention it's rather hard to adjust your schedule to watch an F1 race at 4am.

The politics in F1 aren't any worse than the immature drama and politics in NASCAR. I watch as much racing as I can and I'm seriously considering grabbing tickets to next years race in Austin.

I'm pretty curious to see how Kenny will do... Seems like a little bigger leap than when the NASCAR or Indy drivers get to trying out an f1 car.

NASCAR has the upper hand in immature drama, F1 has way more politics, seems like you can't go a week without hearing accusations of team orders. That is mainly what I'm getting at, people want to see the best driver win, not the team favorite.

Is this about NASCAR or Ken Block testing a F1 car?

It is a funny joke though. He cant keep a WRC out of the trees for more then 2 stages, and that is supposed to be his bread and butter. He probably wont be about to keep it out the gravel if they let him loose on anything by a dead straight...;)

Hmm.

Ts;Dr: This is probably the most interesting Publicity Stunt with F1 I've seen in a while (since Jeff Gordan drove a Williams during the early 2000s). This is probably a case of: do some serious laps in the beginning, then when we got a leftover pair of hards left do some doughnuts in them. Otherwise, I'm more interested in how Tony Stewart will do around Watkens Glen in a McLaren, rather then seeing a pro Gymkhana-ist in a old Toyota around Monza. More hilarity can ensue with Tony.

What have you been watching?

So far what I have seen with Block in WRC is that he can run top 10 unless his car breaks, which it does way too often. His recent rollover - bad pace notes. The last rally - broken driveshaft. (and he was running great before that) People are so easy to judge when they don't know the facts. 👎

+1

Ken Block is all show but when it comes to real racing, he can't keep up with the world's best rally drivers. (My opinion).
