Why is there an apostrophe?

I don't know Famine. Why is there an apostrophe? Could it be a basic error in grammer? Or could it be much deeper than that, and a joke only Americans get?

It's possibly because they're too busy trying to discredit the "leader of party they don't vote for" to notice their own grammatical errors.

The next one will be "Yeah well, I'm not an elected goverment official, so my grammar's not as important.". Well, don't set out specifically to mock someone for making the same errors as you do.

Those pics arent very funny. the quotes are even less funny...

I thought some of the pics were pretty humorus

Why is there an apostrophe?
I've been dying to unleash this on the next person who does that, but it's a little crass.

I understand what I did. I will be more careful about what I post next time. I didn't realize anybody would say anything because there are error's on other post's.

I'm going to have nightmares tonight. Those pics are hillarious, unless you're a run-of-the-mill no-sense-of-humor liberal, of course.

That's not the point. The point is you made a thread which basically says "Look how stupid (leader of party I don't vote for) is" - same as the "Bushism's" (sic) thread - while making a basic grammatical error. Mistypes are acceptable. Hypocrisy isn't.

You should judge politicians on the mistakes they make in their job. Trying to belittle someone on the grounds that they sometimes don't say things quite right, rather than their ability to do the job they're gunning for is dumb. This applies to the Bush thread too.

I wonder how many people who ridiculed Dan Quayle for the famous "potatoe" incident would have actually done the same thing?

Unlike Bush and Kerry, the Dan Quayle "potatoe" incident showed how truly stupid he is. Push to shove, Bush and Kerry are, at most, only bad public speakers (Bush clearly more so than Kerry but Kerry's quite a bit less exciting. Not as if Bush is a charsima machine or anything - maybe more like a Mitsubishi Carisma machine).

If I recall correctly, the spelling Quayle used was acceptable at one time, during which he may have learned that spelling. If so, it would suggest Quayle as ignorant on one thing, not generally stupid.
