Logitech DiNovo Edge

What it is: It's a sleek, very flat, and wireless bluetooth keyboard
What it costs: $150 - $200 ($90 after rebate)
How long have you owned/used it: 3 days
Pros:

  • Very flat
  • Bluetooth is great and effortless
  • Short cut keys and the setpoint software make it really flexible for mulitasking
  • It says I can connect other bluetooth devices, but I have yet to try it
  • If you have bluetooth built-in there's no need to use the included dongle
  • When pressing the Fn key it backlights the extra icons at the top. When you use the touch pad the ring lights up. When you use the volume slider the lights follow your finger.
  • If you like Laptop shallow keys this is right up your alley

Cons:

  • Touch features are sometimes unresponsive
  • Touchpad mouse click buttons are awkward at times
  • Charging can be a bit irritating as you have to "dock it" which stands vertical
  • No Back lit keys and the ones that are only come on briefly when pressing the Fn key
  • No number pad (if that's a problem for you, it's not for me)
  • Price

Overall Rating: 7.5/10

Conclusion: I'm kinda on the fence about this keyboard. It's not a regular keyboard, it's not small enough to be portable, and it's sorta a potentially a good multimedia keyboard but without back lighting. I guess maybe it's just that it turns out not to be what I was looking for. Don't get me wrong, using it to type is great since it has quite laptop like keys. Unfortunately, I don't think this touchpad mouse is practical, I use it very little compared to my actual scroll mouse.

With that said, if anyone wants to buy it off me PM me. I haven't been using it since my damn desktop pc has been running slow for the net. I've been using my laptop for the time being.

I happen to be doing a little research about this keyboard and stumble across the DiNovo Mini which looks quite promising.

Veronica Belmont tells ya about it!

Whats it like with the PS3? Thats the only reason I would want one of these or the mini.

Oooo...I want the Mini! That would be perfect for the PS3 and might even work with my Q. $150 is insane though. :(

I was interested in the Edge when it first came out, but I heard that it can only recognize three key presses or something like that at one time. That rules out any gaming. Can you confirm that?

I got rid of it before I could use it on a PS3. Even then my PS3 isn't with me. I'm hunting for a Mini now.

The Edge just wasn't going to work for my lifestyle I guess. I did like parts of it though.

I tryed the Mini and there are some pretty cool features, it's just not going to cut it for me. I think it might be cool for the PS3 though. They have a switch that is specifically for the PS3.

Notable features I liked on the Mini

- Removable batt.
- Storage for the Bluetooth dongle (although I'm sure you can connect if there's already bluetooth built-in)

Features that I didn't like

- Logitech... please trash the touch pad, they are worthless. Put in a mini joy or something.
- Protective cover that needs to be flipped up when in use.

With that said... I am now looking for a Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Desktop 8000 (yeah yeah... it's M$, but it has what I want) Bluetooth, backlit keys, and laptop like keys.

Did the keystroke feel like a laptop or a standard keyboard, and how was the clicking sound? I like a little noise from the keyboard just to let me know I hit the key.

It had a little sound but I think the feel of how the buttons was what they were going for more and yes the keys were more like a laptop.
