Killzone or MGS3 Subsistence - which to buy first

Hi folks!

Since yesterday I'm a proud user of a Playstation2 with GT4, TT and Burnout 3 Takedown.

Now I'm contemplating of buying a shooter/sneak action game. I've played MGS2 on my PC and I absolutely loved the game!

But I'm not very good when it comes up to make decisions. Should I wait buying MGS3 and buy Killzone first or directly get into this brilliant game MGS3?

Are there any other alternatives for me? I'm overwhelmed by those many titles for the PS2.

For now I've got enough racing games. Advice is always welcome.

P.S.: GT4 rocks! :D
 
I would recommend MGS: 3 subsistance, Online, Extras, it is far superior to the original version. In my opinion it also has much better replay value. (I own Both games, and would take Metal Gear Solid any day)

Have just ordered MGS3:subsistence :) incl. book from Piggyback :) Liked their book about PES5 as well.

Oh this is gonna be fun! :D Any tips for playing MGS3? do I need popcorn for this cineastic game?

The game is very good indeed, you just might grab a coke and popcorn when the enemy is approacing without him knowing it 👍

Play it on hard. Then Extreme, and then European Extreme.

Good thing you didn't get Killzone, that game runs 10 fps. It's horrible.

Puh sounds that most people are not a friend of Killzone though it has multiplayer.

I've stopped reading MGS topics cos I don't wanna get spoiled. Most of you have already played the game but it'S the first time for me especially on PS2 so I'm more than excited to pick up this goddamn game. If it's nearly as good as MGS2:Substance I'll spend many hours in front of it.

Which leads me to the random question. Do I really need a new RGB cable to get the most of it? I mean the graphics quality should be even better with other cables.

I really wanna enjoy this game.

I just play it with the cables that came with the PS2, looks fine, though I imagine that it's look better with S-Video or composite cables.

Argh I've seen the start where Snake jumps out of the plane and the music sounds just awesome. Bought the Snake Eater Subsistence version with 3 DVD. Guess it's not the LE?

Yeah cables are ok but if thereis any chance of getting better pics.... Have to check my email accounts. Hopefully the game will be sent tomorrow. Can't wait!

The LE edition in the US is the standard version in Europe, to make up for the REALLY long delay.
 
Ah ok. I've read on MgsForums that MGO is probably to be closed? Does this affect only the Konami servers or would it be impossible to create a server oneself?

Would like to try this online mode out. Network CD is already ordered.

That's a pity. Have you already checked possibilities to buy it via Amazon or CD-WOW?

Some games are really cheap there. Found e.g. Black in a scottish shop for £11,99. this is max 18€. Here in Germany Black costs 50€. So maybe you'll check out some stores at Amazon and visit their homepages as well. Maybe you'll find MGS3 cheap there.
 
Was it sent? I won't tell you anything about the plot but to back up everyone elses sentiments in here, a: you've made the right choice picking MGS3 over KZ, and b: you will be blown away, the game is fantastic. The MGS series is imo the best gaming series ever, including GTA and Gran Turismo, MGS3 being the best MGS so far. Hopefully MGS4 will live upto expectations, or exceed them like 3 did ;). I won't even begine to compare MGS3 to MGS2 though, 3 is better in every way.

One final point, for the best experience play it on hard, don't touich any difficulty below that. It's not a stupidly difficult game, none of the MGS games are or really have been on the regular difficulties though.
 
No it's still not sent :( Guys I wanna play this game now and not in two days even it's nice to wait. Well but sometimes you can't wait...

All the vids and previews I've seen I guess it will be nice and will addict me more than GT4 or Burnout or so.

Maybe I'll buy Black now to have a game before MGS arrives. Unfortunately Ionly have Stereo but that works fine here.

hehe..Wait until you fight the guy with sniper rifle, it's gonna be one hell of a fight (I am not telling you his name). Anyway, this game is one of the best, you made a right choice picking it up over Killzone.

Here some other must have titles on the PS2: God of War, Shadow of colossus, Okami, Resident Evil 4, Silent Hill 2. I am sure that you have a blast with these games.

Also, if you like fighting, Tekken 5 and Virtua Fighter 4: Evo are also great.
 
yeah playing Resident Evil right now. Oh I know the guys name. Anyway I'm waiting. But RE4 is complicated using the controls.
 
i think MGS3 is one of the best games ever made. i know thats a big call, but its more of an experience than most other games if that doesn't sound too stupid :) also, i'm glad the story wasn't as ridiculous as MGS2 though overall i liked it too.
 
After paying it for a while I've to say it's nice. Snake is at his best and the game looks great on my TV even I use a 50Hz model.

I like the conversations but there're issues I've to look for. First when I saved a game and die afterwards which happened a lot during the first hours of playing it starts at the beginning of the checkpoint. Where can I load my save? I'm not eager to play 20 minutes again to be at the same level.

Second it's damn confusing and so different from MGS2 for PC. Had to get used to the gameplay and the camera in the jungle.

I'm not too far as I played a lot of GT4 these days.
