I got this game a month ago and I decided to write a review on it. So, here goes:

Graphics- The graphics in this game are quite good, considering the whole game runs in real time. There are no CG cut scenes, which I like because it keeps the pace of the game steady. The environments are well detailed but I dont like the camera angles; at times you can't even see your character.
Score- 9/10

Gameplay- This is where the game truly shines. This game moves quickly, and it truly requires you to keep up. The menu system and the combat style are very intuitive, however, and in no time you'll be fighting and exploring with the best of 'em. The bosses are also refreshing, as they are a lot of fun to fight and each requires a different strategy. The party system in this game is o.k, but I wish that the game would let you switch between characters.
Score- 9.8/10

Storyline- The storyline of this game is pretty good, but it wont win any awards. One of the major strenghts of the storyline is the integration of both Disney and Squaresoft characters into the game.
Score- 8.5/10

Overall- 9.2/10

Total Score- 36.5/40: A-

BTW: The pic on the bottom is the game cover.PLEASE COMMENT ON THE REVIEW!!!!!!

Your review is pretty good, but you could add more details. Right now I'm waiting for the second Kingdom Hearts!

omg, when's the 2nd kingdom hearts coming out?! I bought it about amonth ago, and I haven't really had time to actually sit down and enjoy the game..>_<

Borrowed it from a friend. Played it, and quickly let it sit collecting dust. The game sucks. Bad-camera angles, bad controls, primitive fighting system, DISNEY characters (I have never been a Disney fan), SQUARE characters (only played FFVII and liked it, but it is only good to play once).

I give it

* (1 star over five)

You should probably play it for about a week to really gain a truly valid opinion. Also, how is it bad just because there are Disney characters? I thought the same thing that you did, but its actually pulled off quite well. They even have the voice actors from the movies.

The game also has a rather advanced battle system, requiring strategic use of items and magic as well as lock on technique (all in real time, no less) so I dont really see how its "primitive".

So I think your rating is B.S. until you do more than borrow it for a couple of days (and why did you let your friend's game collect dust anyways? You don't sound like a very caring friend).

It is called an opinion. And yes, I can see a good game from others. I dont follow what the mainstream does.

NISMOskyline is right even though he was a bit harsh. I don't really understand how you can say that the camera angles are bad when you can control the camera manualy. The fighting system is far from primative. One has to attack, heal, and use magic, all in real time. I realize that the controls may be hard to get down when you first start (using the right analogue is rather awkward at first), but I can't see how it would be set up any other way. It's fine to have an opinion, but it isn't okay to back it up with false facts.

As I said, I dont care what the mainstream says about games. In my book, KH is crap. I can list a dozen more games that are overrated too.

I never once mentioned mainstream. I was talking about you trying to pass of Kingdom Hearts as crap with no factual reasons. Your points would be misleading to someone actually looking at your posts as a review. If you don't like it, just say so, don't try and validate it with fake reasons. With that, I'm done with this argument.

LOL. You call two lines a review?

And all of my observations were factual. I have the game right here in my hand, and I have played it too. But my comments are far from making it a review.

But you gave it 1 star out of 5. That constitutes a review in my book.

Honestly guys, Tercel is entitled to his opinions. If you've been part of of the industry (either in it, influenced by it or a consumer to it), you'll notice that there are many bad (i.e. low rating) reviews out there that are put together out of spite rather than conclusive evidence such as the one above. And that's OK.

It's always easier to write a review for a game that you hate than writing a review for a game that you love - I've always said that it's hard to write a review for games that you really hate AND games that you really love. When you write a review for a bad game, you'll nitpick it so much that you probably won't know when to STOP. When you write a review for a game that you love, you'll typically not know where to START. And in case you're wondering, I've professionally written reviews in the past, so those statements come from some sort of experience.

The fact of the matter here is Kingdom Hearts (by nature of the reviews it's gotten) is liked more than it's disliked. It's good to have differing opinions because hearing both sides gives you more information. But in the end, you can assume that it'd be a safe bet to try renting it or to even pick this game up (considering it's a Greatest Hits title now).
