Bloody Hell, are there no rides that are safe anymore?

They are all safe, but like anything mechanical you will have occasional breakdowns. 99% of the breakdowns are harmles, like a restraint getting stuck. Every ride gets inspected daily to look for any possible problems.

Think about a car. You could just a have a dome light go out or a switch break, but occasionally the brakes go out or a tire blows out while you are driving 75 mph.

Serious injury is an oddity for amusement park rides. I ride them all the time and never hesitate. If Son of Beast reopens this I will be at King's Island myself to ride it this fall.

I was kidding, I realise they are safe. It's just that there see,ms to be quite a few having problems lately

You'll see what I mean.

Ah, I see, no real news for them then.

When I was in college, my roommate worked at an amusement park in the summers. The next ride over from his station was the Pirate Ship; essentially a giant boat-shaped swing that seated about 40 people. It would power up until it was swinging back and forth through about 160 degrees of rotation, then they would put on the brakes and slow it down to the bottom to change riders.

One night while my friend was on they had a hydraulics failure on the Pirate Ship, and the brakes didn't work. So instead of a 4 minute swing, the riders got treated to about a 30-minute ride before it slowed enough that the crew could throw some ropes around the thing and bring it to a stop. Out of 40 people on it nearly all of them hurled.

I'm sure it was similar on this.

That happened at Six Flags Great America several years ago.

wikipedia
A major incident on the roller coaster occurred on Saturday, April 18, 1998. Twenty-three riders were left stranded upside-down after the train in which they were riding came to an unexpected halt in the middle of a vertical loop. Firefighters used a cherry picker to bring the passengers to safety. Some riders were stuck for nearly three hours. Four passengers were taken to local hospitals out of precaution but released that afternoon.

Investigators concluded that the incident was caused by mechanical failure. A guide wheel that runs along the inside of the track separated from the axle of the last car. A mechanical safety system built into the wheel assembly engaged, preventing the train from derailing.

The roller coaster reopened shortly after the conclusion of the investigation, and continues to operate at its original location.

I'm going to this same park this Sunday and I plan to ride the Demon. 👍 Roller Coasters are still much, much safer than driving a car.

And to think that I went to King's Island less than a month ago. Didn't go on Son of Beast. But went on the original Beast. Now that is QUITE a ride, now that I'm thinking about it, definitely my favourite. My close 2nd is Nitro from Six Flags Great Adventure.

Dude, if you're going to Great America, go on this.
Six Flags Great America, not paramount. I've been numerous times. The closest to thaat top gun ride I can go on is Batman.

I rode son of beast, first time it was smooth and fun, then it kept getting rougher and rougher.
Sorry, but you set yourself up for that.
