Kit Cars, BEC , Tackday cars ?

Anyone on this forum into Building Kit cars or trackcars here ?

Im building a Yamaha R1 powered RAW Striker at the moment.

Hoping to weigh in at under 390 KG
and its got 175 Bhp :crazy:

Will be pretty quick :)


Would like to here what other people are building :D
 
Likely not. Everybody is at the Cars in General forum for that, and even then, not many can own a kit car.

In the future, I plan to perhaps keep a Superformance car... or, in about 8-10 years.

Any pictures?

I'm sorry, I'm a bit clueless. That is an awesome-looking ride, though.

Does the kit have its own body?
 
I helped in the early stages of putting together a Tiger Super Six in comp school, but they got as far as putting the brakes on and lifting the engine from a 2.0l Ford Granada.

And, 2 years later, I'm told by my sis it's in much the same condition.
 
A shame that the Tiger only went that far...

Yes, quite alot of people start Kits and dont have the commitment to build them.

Its good if your lookingto buy one though because alot of the manky jobs are out the way and you get to do the nice stuff jsut the way you like it LOL

Which for me is very minimalistic and trackday style XD

Will be great when they have the Caterham in GT5 :P
 
someday, i really want a ariel atom. its cool, because it is a realistic dream. they are not too terribly expensive
 
LOL why would i lie about having a £4000 kit car ?

If i was going to lie about having a car i would atleast make sure its something really impressive.

E.G: "Ive got Ferrari 360" Vs "Ive got some scaffolding with a Moped engine in"

LOL, yeah The TT is my moms, the 350z is my dads 50% depending on who needs the 4 Door BMW at work, (Small company). And the lambo gallardo is a contractor who comes to work for us occasionally. And on Ghetto Telford roads, the gallardo bounces around like **** lol. Ive never been on a Smooth motorway in it yet so i dont know how stable it is there.

At any point in those posts did i actually say i drove at those speeds...

The thread was about the fastest you've been in a car.

Geeeeeeeessss cant say anythink on these threads without people conducting FBI investigations on you.

you clearly say my 350z and my tt implying that they are yours and that you own them which clearly you dont and you were in fact owned.

I built a Libra V6 for my then other half. Here it is on test day, and being thrashed around Bedford with 'The Neil'. ~200hp, ~200lbft, 830kg wet.

We were hauling in Porsche 911s, Evos, Scoobies, Caterhams, TVRs that day... the only thing quicker than us was a 911GT3.

There are three 'standard' engine types.

1. K-series 4-cylinder, and pretty much any gearbox they came with.
2. KV6/PG1 from MG ZS.
3. Honda D/B-series four-pots.

GTM are now owned by the same group as Westfield. The Libra is now pretty reasonably developed. The suspension had a tendency to go out of tune, although on it's game, it was amazing. 'The Neil' could hold sustained 120mph powerslide drifts at Bruntingthorpe. Scrap one set of rear 215/45r17s every time. :D

Heh. I've just noticed their website says the weight of the V6 is 830kg. We knew because we weighed ours. :)

Edit: This link will take you to a pic of the car at Spa, when it was running as the V6 demonstrator for the local GTM importer. The owner enjoyed that day very much, she silenced a lot of very mouthy Europeans who think women can't drive. :D

Nope. I'll come along for squits and giggles, but I'll spend more time sideways than they do at half the speed. :D But seriously, yes, a Scots tour is on the list of places to go with the Fredster.

What is the top speed of your car (est) ?
Not that it really matters, its the corners im more bothered about :)

Us Bike engined lads only have top end around 120mph (unless hayabusa powered) But thats plenty with 0 - 60 around 3.8 secs.

Its the way the Bike engines deliver the power its scary lol.

Still, i bet that V6 puts hairs on your chest in a car that small :crazy:
 
The car would do just over 160mph (actually topping out the gearbox, I think) but only with front splitter and rear wing - I had it up to 135-ish at Bedford before braking for the fast esses, and it got a bit floaty above 110. :)

The prototype was the same as ours (albeit with a heavier R40-donor Getrag gearbox) and it hit 160mph quite comfortably with endplate splitters and a decklid mounted adjustable wing. "The White Car" was V6 number 7.

The Ex still has it, it was built for her and is her summer/dry weekends car.

So hopefully before the end of this year?

Might just take the evo 7 anyway just to make sure we are faster :lol:
 
What are those Carbon Metallic pads like iswell ? Like compared to normal pads.

I just use EBC red stuff on my Wilwoods because the car is so light it will just lock up anyway.
