Remember in GranTurismo when You were able to buy a racing kit for anycar you bought? What ever happened to that. Does anyone know if there gonna bring it back or the reason they stopped.?

I bet the didn't have it in GT3 because they would have had to model each and every racing modification. Not to mention all the coding that goes into something like that where the aerodynamic properties and weight of a car are changed.

It's mucho work.

👍

i wondered about this too. also made me wonder if they did add it, would they model the entire shell of the car as one piece, as they probably did for GT3, or would they model just the basic shell of the car, as in the doors, and side panels, then model different bumpers and such and add those to your car. it would take less room on the DVD to do it the second way, but it would also probably take alot of work too. i wish there was someone from PD here to answer these questions.

As its said do far, apart from return of the "used car" section, legendary "Racing Modification" should return, but just for certain amount and type of vehicles.

I'm more concerned - if it returns or not - will the lovely white letter "R" in black square which was marking racing modificated cars and all the racing cars in fact - be back. I loved that letter so much in garage car list of first GT.

And IMHO - SSJcar, you're right in first assumption - I presume that for Racing Mod the entire new shell must be modelled.

Yep it is the entire shell, KY said that it would've taken far too long to put the race mod into GT3 cos they would've had to almost double the number of cars in the game so it is actualy a new car.

Yeah, I would assume adding kits is like modeling entire new cars in both the phsyical aspects and the phsyics aspect. You've almost entirely changed the car.

I think there are going to be racing mods for a few cars in GT4.

There will be kits of some sort (most likely race mods) for the more popuar cars like the S2000 and Skylines.

Skyline; I really want to see that one.

I would prefer the cars that don't have loads of race variations to get the kit's like the TVR's and Aston Martins.

I enjoyed the racing modifications in GT2 very much, and I miss them. If the recent delay of GT4 is related to PD adding more racing mods, then I am in favor for the delays.

The racing mod of a normal car gives you greater flexablility with a car's features and performance to better match that car with any race event. To make it either faster, or slower. You could change racing parts for sport, or semi-racing parts, which is something you cant do with race cars.

The racing mods added a whole new dimension and I REALLY want them back in GT4.

I'll always remember saving up for my racing mod for the Subaru Legacy in GT1, so I could continue using it in harder events :D
