Hi all, maybe you can help me out with a little advice.

Yesterday I was happily watching the “Formula One” as the fuel hungry beasts tore screaming around the track at Kuala Lumpur. As is often the case I was left afterward with an “F1” gaming itch, in severe need of a good long scratch.

Now, in the past nothing has been easier as I’ve simply powered up the old PC and immersed myself in a session with the excellent “Geoff Crammond’s GP4” and spent many a happy hour burning rubber onto tarmac until my racing thirst was quenched.

Unfortunately for me though my old friend the PC recently turned up its toes with no hope of any replacement in the short, or indeed medium term future, leaving me up GP creek without a gearbox!

All is not completely dark though as I still have my trusty PS2 to see me through these trying times.

To quote “Blade Runners” Leon, “Nothing is worse than an itch you can’t scratch.” So it was with a good deal of frustration that I realised I have no such animal for my PS2.

Having had quick surf I have to admit that I didn’t find much in the way of Grandprix games and this is where I hope you might be able to help me out.

Which would you say is currently the best GP game on the market for the PS2 and with that established…. Is it any good?

Then to nip in with a cheeky second subject..

I would also really like a Motorcycle Sim and I was toying with the idea of “Moto GP4” as it’s really cheap at Amazon. But some reviews I’ve read suggest that it pales into insignificance compared to a game called “TT Superbikes”, but this is more expensive.

So for my second dip into your collective wisdom I’d like to ask if anyone here has played both, and if you’d recommend “TT Superbikes” is it worth the extra £15 over and above “Moto GP4”

Many thanks for all advice.

All the best

OK the first one is difficult as I don't know what part of the world you live in. The best F1 game on the PS2 at present is Formula 1 2005.

Its a good game (and one I regularly put on after watching a GP), the GTP thread on it is here.

However it was not released in all markets and as far as I know it did not get a NTSC/USA release. Sony also currently hold the worldwide licence for F1, so don't expect any licenced F1 games from any other companies or other platforms (now you know why the Xbox gets no offical F1 games).

In regard to a good bike game, I've not played either of the ones you mention, but has heard good things about TT Superbikes, Riding Spirits 2 is also not bad.

However most people are waiting (myself included) for the US and European/Australian release of Tourist Trophy, the bike game from the creators of Gran Turismo.

That game has an entire forum dedicated to it here at GTP

I hope that the above helps you out, and may I recomend in future that you give the search function a try as it would have pointed you in the direction of all the above links.

I am going to lock this thread as anything you need to ask further should be raised in the threads and forums I have linked to.

Regards

Scaff
