does anybody know why there is such a lack of BMW cars in GT3?
I know they are not much competition for the larger more powerful cars of the game but the M series cars such as the M Roadster or M Coupe can keep pace with any of the Imprezas or Evo`s in the game.
this is not a critisism of any kind to Mercedes but in my opinion the M series BMW`s are far better designed for track use than the large, heavy and some what slow mercs. if someone could answer my question i would greatly appreciate it.

I was kinda wondering the same thing.. I've always wanted an 850i in real life, or at least to get to drive one, so it was cool when I got GT and there it was. One thing I have to say though, and I don't mean to criticize anybodies cars, but the BMW's just don't seem to hold the track that well without much tuning on the drivers part.. I was really mad in GT2 when I fully decked out one, (don't really follow them anymore so I can't remember which, it was an M-series tho), with bodywork and everything and it drove like a lightweight brick :( Still, I'd think there'd be more than one, considering the other cars on the game.. Maybe the Z8 will make it to GT4?

there was no 850i in gt2 it was 840i and some companies just dont want there car in racing games for some odd reason that i dont even know. I would want the Z8 i want to see how that thing drives since ive never seen one in real life yet.

No M Cars, No Ferraris, No real Porsches... wanna know why? because they all sold their licences to Electronic Arts for the NFS games... that's why. PD simply took another route with the RUFs,they are classified as a carmaker in Germany, not as a tuner. I wonder why PD doesn't try it out with Alpina, Brabus, Hartge and Koenig...

wonder if Ferarri is letting cops chase cars in HP2? (I think there's a screenshot of that sort of thing isn't there?) I thought that was total crap, how Ferrari wouldn't let one of their cars on the cover of one of the NFS games, with a cop chasing it. and how you couldn't drive one in hot persuit mode or whatever. c'mon, like that's going to associate them any more than they already are with being chased by cops, hehe.

well Gt3 is a import game from japan so your gonna see alot of japanese cars and the people there dont really like exotic cars but they like regular cars or sport cars and they tune them like crazy there so i really doubt your ever gonna see any exotic car in gt series except for maybe vector or saleen which are american companies.

I have to agree with you guy's, my first question when going to the BMW 'dealer' /with one car?/ was 'Why have a 328i when you could have an M3?'. But I suppose the answer's obvious: Polyphony were desperate to get those feckin' F1's in and needed the room!!!!

;) :D hehehe

electronic arts owns the licensing rights to the M3 along w/ the porsche and various other cars for the NFS series. i think PD didn't go after the tuners for BMW was because of the time limitations on putting this title out.

i suspect this is why they didn't put the drag racing mode into GT2. i'd like to see this feature in GT4.

I wish the publishing companies didn't push the developers to release products unfinished. Especially on console systems. Blizzard, made Diablo I/II Warcraft, etc, takes their time, the release dates on there games is always "When it's done." People wait years for their games. Publishers are so worried about getting the gsme on the market for x-mas season that they don't care. Blizzrd releases games whenever and they still have the top 2 or 3 selling PC games of all time. This needs to start becoming common practice in the gaming industry. I have no problem waiting an extra year or three if it means the game will be near perfect. I am sure the designers at PD wanted to delay the release to "finish" the game but Sony is to eager to get there flagship game on the market. They know people will by it whether it is finished or not. But if they want people to associate them with great games, like Blizzard, theyt need to let the developers take their time and decide when they are ready to release.
My 2 cents.

u gotta remember, too licence a car company for a game would cost alot of money, but l guess they make up the money....

its like a soccer game, it wont sell if u dont have david beckem in the game, if they are all no-names not many ppl would buy the game

most american cars and exotic cars have there license owned by ea but sony or pd should just buy out ea and then we would have all the cars we wanted.

one of the main reasons that gt3 has less cars then gt2 is because in gt2 it took 1 day to model each car and in gt3 it takes 1 week so they cant fit that many cars and probably the disk is almost full so they left out some stuff they wanted to put.

It's not PD's fault, it's BMW's. They were too lazy, and were rude, snobbish, and mean. That's why they only licenced 1 BMW.

I will lean mostly towards time, (although there are some other very valid reasons I'm sure). PD announced long ago that they weren't gonna be able to handle the same, high number of cars as in GT1 and 2 due to time constraint. At that point, (don't remember when, but it was at least a few months before release), they said this was the ONLY reason for a "lack" of cars. They also wrote of much higher times for car modelling..
