I love GT5 its perfect - but the fact that you can't change the steering ration in cars, specially on racing car is driving me crazy. I understand that changing steering ratio in normal production car isn't common, so not including that option for normal cars is fine. but surly you should be able to change steering ration for a race car depending on racers preference and track circumstances so why can't you do this in GT5. It just seem ridiculous not to be able to do this! Am I missing something. Please help!

I wish it could be adjusted myself. I hate that the game wheel doesn't turn the same as the in car view wheel.

I couldn't possibly agree more. It feels very wrong to be turning the wheel so far while driving a race car. It's particularly bad, when your forced to do hand over hand steering and the paddle shifters become temporarily lost. This is the one thing I would love to see in a future update.

I have been yelling this since before gt5 came out. made tons of posts about and no one seemed to care
it ruins 90% of the game for me. I can't believe kaz who races cars in real life doesn't get distracted by these obvious stupidities when he gets back to the game.

Such a shame too cos its gt5s biggest flaw but so easy to correct

This seems hard to believe(not your post; my opinion), but I don't think Kaz plays the game he created. Unless to demo it for others, or to find problems users are complaining about.

Not only does Kaz play GT5, he admitted to practicing the Nurbugring on GT5 DURING the 24 Hours of the Nurburgring while he was not driving the real race.

what's his psn id? I'd like to FR him

Yep they play it with the driving force GT.

not the G27.

Even Vettle drove the X2010 during its design stages and hes there on video doing just that in the behind the scenes footage of the x2010.
His driving style is what built the X2010 default handling.

don't even start about the x2010, thats got like steering equivalent to 1:1 if not worse! That is just absolute donky's but-mass by any standard. And what with all the under steering?

I've never seen f1 cars under steer so much like in this game. I guess with out the under-steering and such sensitivity it would be impossible to drive these cars so they have just done some lemon / potato maybe even tomato - physics to make it easier! really they should try solving the real problem!

Practicing would have been a bit of a overstatement surely.

+1. If you're doing hand over hand steering you're doing something wrong. The only time I've ever had to do it is when I go into a corner too hot and have to try to reel it back in, hence it was my fault and not the games fault. In normal race conditions I rarely have to turn the wheel much more than 90-120 degrees.

As for the on-screen wheel animation not matching my physical wheel's rotation, I tend to focus on the road while I'm driving so this isn't something I even notice.

I really dont hand over hand it either. Only during drift. Otherwise I usually drive one hand on wheel and on on shifter, and the amount of rotation that allows me is usually plenty during a race.

You guys do realize that all that B.S. is pure advertising don't you?

It doesn't matter if you have ever had to go hand over hand in the game or not, race cars do not have 900 degrees of rotation. I believe that is what the OP is complaining about. It's just another example of why GT5 is a game, not a sim. If you use a Fanatec wheel, you can set the degrees of rotation and linearity, this is not possible with the Logitechs, with them you are stuck with GT5's flaw.

I think it's more than marketing although it has to be noted that Kaz says he practiced the Nurburgring track and probably use the car that he's racing in- the Nissan GTR which has a full steering rotation (unlike F1 or X2010). And I don't think Kaz uses DFGT exclusively- he probably uses the more expensive T500RS as well which has even more rotation (1080deg vs 900deg for DFGT/G25/27).

One thing that you want to consider is that all Logitech wheels have a maller rim that most cars. Yes, it's still harder to steer a F1 car but if you're good at adapting to situation, you won't have trouble using Logitech than you would larger rim wheeled like the T500RS or even Fanatec.

Yep forget about the internal steering wheel animation as it will never look right because GT5 supports 180-200 degree USB Steering wheels as well as 900+ modes.

I dont think it is B.S. at all. Practicing in GT5 would at least keep him fresh on knowing the track and how to drive it. What is so hard to beleive about that? Racing and the GT series seem to be his passion, so I dont think he would BS about something like this. Especially since you can watch videos comparing the ring in RL to the ring in GT, which shows just how accurately the game simulates RL driving.

I dont drive race cars in GT all that much, so I havent noticed this as a problem. I guess I will have to experiment and see if it takes me turning the wheel to full lock in order to get the in game car to full lock.

It would be nice if they could make the steering rotation changeable through software like in PC sims. I doubt it would be very resource heavy feature. Used to set the the GTR2 and rFactor to use only 450 degrees of my DFP as it felt more realistic in the race cars. The always 900 degrees in GT5 isn't a big deal for me though.

Now that I think about it I'm not sure if it was through the game or Logitech's drivers... Still think it would be possible in GT5 too though.

Well racing seems to be his passion, GT5 pays his bills.

The strange thing is that this feature was present in Prologue. When i learned about the 2.0 update, i hoped that this issue would have been solved. Let's hope that they will include it in a future update.

Get a Fanatec wheel you can change the rotation to suit your needs

Quick Tuning Menu/ Max turning angle (30-50).

That used to be in Prologue.

don't remmember that but, 30 is already a bit too high. 20 - 30 depending on the wheel base! is probably more like it!

I'm just going to get a decent graphic card and start playing rFactor.

The steering angle is not the same as the steering ratio the OP is about.
