Is there a lack of skill on 600PP Fuji or what? I've been playing with the '05 STi for a couple of nights, I'm constantly coming in first. I beat Evo Xs, F430s, 599s, R8s, Tuned Clios, and GT-Rs left and right...what's going on?

and I don't think I'm skilled, usually my laps clock in at 1:53 on average

Ahh, we're not all bad! I personally like to think I am at least satisfactory, though not AMAZING or anything, but at least a decent driver. I have run into some really good talent on NTSC. However, Earth's right the larger majority doesn't have much skill but know how to punt with skill, :confused: I guess it's just to hard to learn how to actually race well.

You got that right. But I raced someone today whose name had a [RU] tag, and this was on the Fuji 600PP. Isn't RU russia? Why was he in there? I was very confused, and I forgot to take a pic...

I've been driving Fuji 600pp recently, and a 1.53 is not a bad time. (I say that because it is about mine too, in the 07 STI :))
If the other drivers don't have it together you can win quite easily with that, but usually I get some really good close races with similarly matched PAL drivers. However, occasionally you see someone turn up and just totally blitz the field, they would be doing low 1.52s or even faster.

Use a different car.

I've been mucking around with the RX7 at Fuji. I don't mind not winning every race, I just like the battle.
 
That is a great time man.. You should be proud..(Most GTP cannot achieve that. :) Strictly was ive seen) The R8 can go that fast..The R34 can go that fast..Its good that found another car that is capable of that speed.

As a comment to NTSC players skill. Yes, there is a huge difference in skill from NTSC and PAL. PAL drivers have their stuff together most of the time. less punting..less disconnects.. I suggest picking up a version if you want better races with more skilled players.

I dissagree with the statement that NTSC players punt well..I find in most cases a opponent is not trying to punt you, but merely misjudges, over drives and tries to pass when they shouldnt. I have only found a few jerks out there that intentionally punt. ANd here we are..we can go back to player skill..It has a lot to do with how good a race can and will be.

PAL is the way..check it out on Ebay..

Fuji is a punters paradise, much like HSR, but without the walls.

Not PD's fault either. People simply don't know how to brake nicely, hehe.

Try Suzuka 600PP in the STi, it's not such a cakewalk there.

I tried Suzuka in the Evo X, its even worse....99% of the time I get punted off in the first corner :nervous:
 
I get punted off about 1% of the time at Suzuka on the first corner. You're clearly not doing this right, why don't you ease off a little and pick your way carefully through Turn 1 and 2?

You're one of those guys that just wants to win the race in the first corner aren't you?

[RU] stands for Russia, that guy you've raced probably having a NTSC copy, though we are PAL here in Russia.

STI is very fast at Fuji. I usually jump in for Viper, Skyline or M3 to have closer races there.
 
I've actually done the majority of my racing lately at Fuji 600pp, and I've had some fantastic races, with very little punting, and many non GTP members as far as I'm aware. I'm usually driving a dark grey BMW M3, and I've had great fun with it.
 
I think some of you guys have to high thoughts about the PAL version of the game. Of course i cant speak about the NTSC version, as i dont have it but, i can asure you driving online in the PAL version is also one big ramming, bumping, crashing festival.
Pretty much the reason i more or less put the game down for a while, although i am kinda addicted, i cant help it. but trust me the majority of PAL races is not as clean as you might think.
Best advice is like another guy sayd, be patient true the first few turns, just try to avoid the mess, and stay out of the racing line offered by the computer.
 
Try my tactic, move over, let everyone through, follow through first two bends, pick up pace,you might not come first but enjoy race now inexperienced or shunted drivers have left the track:)
 
I think AERO_HDT may being a little unfair in that last comment. I've been punted off at the first corner because I'm taking it at the correct speed and the guys behind think I'm a convenient brake! I appreciate sometimes it might be that they can do the corner faster than me and are caught by suprise, but in thos cases it's normaly just a tap.

And the Viper SRT10, a fair few of us were knocking down under 1:53 in the Showdown a couple weeks ago on the PAL version anyway, i believe at least 3 drivers made the 1:52s.

I believe you have to be in it to get punted. You have to put yourself in a position to get punted. If you don't put yourself in that position, then the likelihood of it occurring to you drops vastly. It used to happen to me a bit, but I took myself out of those situations where I knew I was going to end up on the kitty litter.

Quite simply, I'd rather be last in a field of 12 guys before turn 1. Because guaranteed, 3-4 guys are going to be pushed off the track, some through no fault of their own but because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time.

You spend easily 10 seconds in the sand when that happens, if not more and I'd rather be last and sail through, end up 3-4 seconds in front of those guys who fell off and not have to worry about dirty tyres when it comes to the esses. If they were quick guys and they got punted off accidentally, they'll dust themselves off and start chasing down the field pretty easily - it only takes half a lap for you to be back in the thick of things again.

Yes, I noticed you almost stand still in the grid. I don't, but my aproach to Turn 1 is always very defensive, if I have other cars by my side (sometimes I have them on both sides, lol) I just back off, let them go and see how it goes from that moment on.

OK, fair point :-) No it doesn't happen every time! As others have said, sometimes you get good races where you can drive more normaly. Other times, you're right, you need to put yourself out of danger.

I seem to go through patches where I have a lot of fun, only to get a few "punter" games and log off in disgust! Still, I think there's a lot of potential there and I think it'll get better.

As for the time in the STI, seems respectable to me! I think the Scooby's level of grip helps a lot in the last sections of the track.

I might be that (RU) player you're talking about from Fuji 600 race! I raced it in my NSX against all AWD cars usually! It was SHURIK_2NR wasn't it?
 
I had a ton of fun running Fuji last night with you, tecknical.

I went to trade the R8 for my STi to even the score, but I got out of the cycle.
 
Over on Pal, we try and stick to the 15 minute schedule, much like you do on NTSC.
Perhaps we are just a bit lucky that we seem to have more GTP, GTRP, "tuesday" clans driving the same hours.

I have to say, like yesterdaynight, though occasional (unintentional mostly) punts, the driving was fabulous (by the others then eh :)), i think 5 races with 3 wide and 4 long through the first corner Suzuka with one or two slips, that's near perfect in my view :cheers:

I only have the pal version so i was about to say too: we have punters on pal as well, but seeing i am ignorant as to what goes down during some ntsc races, perhaps i better be quiet :)

Still, if encouragement gets Technical to join PAL too, we have another good clean driver to race against 👍
