While I'm overthinking stuff I wonder whether the song choice at the beginning and end of the episode is significant too. Brian May's lyrics aren't about holding onto destructive feelings that lead to suicide. They're about building on previous generations and passing it on. I'll be disappointed if Kerry killed Hal.
One wild fan theory I heard from the jocks on the subreddits is that due to the fact the defensive linebackers at the hat ceremony are scrawny kids and not heavily built enough, it's some kind of clue that the Rushvillians are aliens who know nothing about football THEREFORE Noah is a Manhunter and is controlling the whole town. The numbers on their shirts apparently don't match up with the range normally assigned to defence players either.
Knowing zippity zilch about American sports myself (or how to spell "defense" apparently) I fervently hope this is all bullcrap and feel they would've made a story point of John noticing this if it was intended to be a clue to the identity of Hal's assassin. I'd point out to them that Kerry knew who Tom Osborne is at the hospital but those jocks would probably give me a wedgie/swirly combination for daring to question them. Admittedly she's an out-of-towner.

The Hal-o-gram. He was a, ahem, true detective and managed to solve his own murder last episode before the rest of us knew for sure. That gut never failed him and I'm not disappointed after all as they handled it quite well.
Aside from fighting off an army of Lanterns to keep his job watching Noah I could make a few educated guesses about where I think the series will go next provided the 19 million viewers are enough to secure a follow-up season.
The ring was forged out of fear water so I'm guessing it may be charged with yellow fear power. But his rapping oath at the end wasn't the Sinestro Corps oath. It was his own.

Yeah, Charlie was saying the showrunners are preparing a second season. Next time we see Junior will be in Man of Tomorrow. Similar with Guy Gardner. That actor films for The Rookie which is why we'll see him sporadically in the DCU.
I imagine Kyle Chandler will show up in flashback from time to time even though he couldn't become a regular due to those outside commitments.
When Stewart told Guy to tell the Guardians to examine their hearts he meant the fake hearts that dead Manhunters leave behind.
He's informing them of his mission to safeguard the world from Noah in a way that the boy won't find out about and fulfilling his promise to him to not let him see it coming otherwise his instincts would prevent John from taking him down and doom the planet.
