Lanterns: Watch out for GILFs and spoilers...

I know we have a couple of DCU threads already active but I really think this show is pretty much its own thing.

I think it's well-plotted, well-acted, has high production values and uses its limited sfx budget wisely. If they had shown what John saw when the aliens showed him how their planet was destroyed they might've had less money to spend on the Guardians' planet Oa.

Just as I guessed what Earl Jordan was going to be when John stepped into the greenhouse and Kerry and Hal guessed what each other were going to ask in the hospital ward it was fairly straightforward to determine who the mystery alien infiltrator in Rushville, Nebraska was after they used Stewart like a cheap tissue in the previous episode.

I wasn't sure about the premiere having never seen the showrunner's Lost and Watchmen series but it seems to be growing the beard in a similar fashion to John's Sisko-like face fuzz in the present.

Next to nobody posts about comics related media on this forum nowadays so I think we can dispense with spoilers, but I'll leave it up to you guys. In brightest day...

ATLiens. Not sure what I can say bout the show. It’s all good. As the credits from episode 4 began, I said to myself, “This freakin’ guy.” Yes, I used freakin’, not another word.

Main problem I caused myself was twofold. Earlier in the day, I watched a Short of the (Fat)Joe and Jada(kiss) show. Fat Joe goes on and spoils a House of the Dragon scene I really shouldn’t have paid attention to. That’s on me.
Second, I’m not versed in Lantern lore and read about some characters. Mistake I made was clicking on an unfamiliar actor’s name and saw the picture.

Welp, spoiled that one for myself.

The show works because they don’t need to make constructs the focus. The budget for using those effects all the time would be wild. The story holds its own. Jumping back and forth in time keeps the story interesting. Don’t mind waiting for an episode each week.

Plus it introduced me to Wunderhorse who are a pretty great band. All the end titles music has been really catchy.

Don't worry about not knowing the lore. I think it's probably better going in cold as the show pretty much works without it and I'm hoping for a particular couple of major reveals that - if Lindelof does it right - will hopefully blow newbies' and normies' minds regarding the nature of the franchise.

Also, the suits would look like everyone was wearing green bacon judging by the disastrous movie. When the show breaks out the large scale CGI as in episode 2 the difference in scale really works for me.

I forgot about the backstory and the language of hip hop is pretty much a closed book to me. That said I found the John origin episode pretty enlightening despite drawing a litany of complaints from the anti-woke grifter crowd. Silly rabbits. GL has been woke for a loooong time.

A lot happened this week. They did drop one of the reveals I was hoping for. The Manhunters being created by the Guardians as a dry run for the Green Lantern Corps. The other should be no surprise to anyone who's watched the promotional material for this show which I've studiously avoided.

Was gonna mention this. I also felt Supergirl was a (slightly) better version of The Marvels.

I watch my man Charlie, from Emergency Awesome, to fill in the many blanks I don't know about.
The trailer he reviewed from next episode will pretty much have your answers.

If they manage to stretch this into a longer-than-one-arc thing in the first season, I'm all for it based on how they did thus far!

And I'm still ever mad how Constantine got left in the dirt, Legends turned from funny and neat into a writing horror story and same fate befell Titans that started off very well.

DC needs to get ALL of their **** completely together already.

I didn't mind what Legends became, given its minuscule budget. But I can appreciate that it wasn't for everybody. I just wish it didn't end on a cliffhanger. Ditto Constantine's own show. And Swamp Thing. It's Flash which was the real stinker which overstayed its welcome. And I much prefer Titans seasons 3 and 4 to the grimdark mess that was season 1 and the meandering of season 2.

It's Flash which was the real stinker in my eyes. Arrow was at least watchable until the end apart from that one season based around Temu Kingpin Ricardo Diaz.
