TRIAL MOUNTAIN CHALLENGE: 500pp R/S, real grip, SRF and ABS on (everything else off)

What car is best at Trial Mountain at 500pp and what is a good lap time/your best lap time with racing soft tyres, real grip, SRF and ABS on (everything else off)?

A Honda Amuse s2000 04' is pretty good.

Have turned a low 1.21 several times.

tisuth41, thanks for that. I hadn't considered the Honda Amuse s2000 '04 before. The best time I've got is 1:21.2 with the Focus '02 but I wasn't sure if that time was up there or not.

tisuth41, there seems to be different versions of the Honda Amuse s2000 '04. Which version are you talking about?

A Honda NSX is an excellent all-rounder, so long as you don't mind the MR Spin it has every now and then. A more stable (But slower, in my personal experience) car would be the RX-7. That is, if we're only talking about road cars only :mischievous:
Arguably the greatest car for 500PP races would be the RX500. It's more or less considered an OP car so watch out for lobbies banning the use of RX500s
Also, I don't really like this car, it just doesn't "click" to me, but another excellent example would be the Ferrari Dino.

Thanks Alpha!

TRIAL MOUNTAIN CHALLENGE: 500pp R/S, real grip, SRF and ABS on (everything else off)

Just tested a few cars last night and here are my results:

Times Updated 1st September 2015

1. GSX 1:19.5

2. Focus ’02 1:21.1

3. Elise 111R '04 1:21.3

4. S2000 ’06 1:23.0

5. Rocket 1:23.3

6. Laviolette 1:23.8

7. Trueno 1:23.8

8. RX500 1:24.4

9. S2000 ’03 1:24.6

10. RS200 ’84 1:25.2

11. RX-7 (FD) 1:25.3

12. RX-7 Spirit R Type A 1:25.9

13. BTR ’86 1:26.1

14. Tacoma X Runner 1:26.7

15. NSX ’02 1:26.8

I ran each car for around 5 laps with each car. The gearing and setup weren’t maximized in some cars for this track so a few tenths should come off here and there.

Has anyone ever ran in the 1:18s?

tisuth41, I went out and bought the Honda Amuse R1 '04 and could only manage 1:24.2. That must be a helluva setup you're running! Or maybe you're just 3 seconds a lap faster than me? Or maybe it was a different Amuse? I'm curious now...

Stock under 500 pp, the Suzuki GSX-R/4 '01 is probably going to be the fastest around, by far. Then there's the RUF RGT, Opera S2000, and BMW M3 GTR.

Thanks Alpha!

I ran each car for around 5 laps. The gearing and setup weren’t maximized in some cars for this track so a few tenths may come off here and there, possibly even more with some cars. I think I may struggle to better the 2 fastest times and the Trueno though. What happened to the NSX? I don't know. I'll need to test again to find out.

It seems from my early 500pp tests using racing soft tyres, real grip, SRF and ABS on (everything else off) that 1:21s is the magic number? Or maybe someone can run a 1:20? If anyone else can get low 1:21s, or even 1:20 something, please post. Preferably I’d like to know about road cars (or concept). Cheers
The Focus' lap time was a big surprise for me :O
Don't get me wrong, I know fully well that FF cars are still competitive in this class (Looks at the Spoon Civic) but... wow.
Sorry I forgot to mention this but all the cars I suggested are tested on the Nurburgring. Given that the trial mountain is biased more on high-speed, it wouldn't be much of a surprise if what I suggested won't be as competitive. Sorry about that :(

Thanks Alpha Cipher.

New number 2 spot: Elise 114 R, 1:21.3 needs to be added to the list now.

Changed some gears looking for the elusive 1:20.9 and now I'm back in the 1:24s with the Elise and can't remember my old settings, wtf?

@reefer I might have a go with the Focus 02, tomorrow, been busy with WSR time trial at the moment

Good man Gadge. I'd be interested to see what times you do. There are lots of other cars I haven't tried and I've only posted the cars I have tried so there may be quicker cars than the Focus and Elise.

And from the cars I have tried, I'm sure there will be people with better setups.

And then there's the driver.. ..cough

All my times are with no drafting.

I'm fairly competitive so I want to know how my times compare with others like yourself. Looking forward to you and others trying this challenge, and whether faster or slower, posting your times.

What a struggle yesterday was. Lost my Elise settings; fought to get them back, tried running light, heavy and everything in between. Tried different power settings, different gears and 1:24s were the order of the day. I might have got a couple of 1:23s, but oh, what a struggle! Never gave up though and eventually got it back down to 1:21.6. I think my previous best with this car of 1:21.3 was a freak lap because 1:21.6 left me exhausted. Are freak laps real? You get an unbelievable lap once, never to be repeated again? I'm pretty sure all room setting were the same.

Raced against a guy yesterday who did a 1:19.4 in his Focus. Anyone been or heard of faster?

Who runs 500PP street cars with RS tires? Use SH or CS at this PP bracket.
Who? Have you ever gone online and looked at the public rooms? I was just in Open Lobby about 5 minutes ago. I tried 4 different Lobbies. The first thing I do is pull up the list of people in the lobby to see what their settings are. It's usually 75% RS tires, 15% RH and 10% Sport. On the rare occasion you'll see a Comfort tire. It's ridiculous. And I am talking about cars around 500-550PP. I left each lobby as soon as I read the list of what people were using for settings. :boggled:

Who are you, the Tyre Police? You might have a point if you don't tell someone how to play the game. May I suggest a suggestion next time

Why wouldn't he? S:H and C:S tires are mostly used for competitive racing becauase of the low grip, and hence, not actually fun for a lot of people. It's amazing how "fun" is a massively subjective matter. What's "fun" for you may not be as much for another person, and vice versa. So please, stop forcing whatever "meta-game" there is on other people, because people just want to have fun and not take the game seriously.

If you really want to know, check out JP lobbies. Quite a significant amount run 500PP at R:S tires on whatever track, and most of my JP friends also do the same from time to time.

What's next, are you gonna be all high and mighty and say "Then Japanese players suck because they run 500PP on R:S which is child's play." Oh please...

I'm very open to people suggesting this 'n that, however, Polsixe, =drifting24/7= is right. "Telling" people what they can and can't use in a game there're out to enjoy ain't right; on this particular occasion your tone came off all wrong. Again, happy to hear suggestions, just not people pushing their own way. I know running RS isn't everyone's cup of tea, but occasionally it just happens to be mine

Yeah sure. Point taken.
