Just a thought do people prefer X laps or Y hours for endurance races?

Personally i prefer laps, it feels more like im working to something and i guess i'm more used to the traditional format of racing (f1 etc)

Will make a poll soon as :)

I don't really care.
I do think that finite laps makes using an X1 more attractive.

Edit: I think they both do.

I prefer time. Adds a certain strategy in working out your pit stops so that they are evenly spaced.

An endurance race is what it is which ever way you look at it, unless the X1 is involved. I think I prefer time. I don't use a HUD anyway so for me I can never tell how far race distance I have left to go!

It seems like endurance races are usually time based but I still prefer laps over time for some reason.

Another option is finite distance as long as it's within the finite time. Few races are run this way, for example, Petit Le Mans (@Road Atlanta) which is 1000 miles or maximum 10 hours, whichever comes first.

^ Isn't that the same as F1 races? They stipulate a certain distance in laps but ultimately the race is over if it goes on any longer than a given time.

Laps should never enter into it at all. Laps are just a result of distance. Almost any race is either run by distance or time(or sometimes both). It'd be nice if more games would let you specify the distance you want to run, and then the number of laps would be calculated from that. Speaking in general, not just for "endurance" races. It's problematic when setting up championships in particular.

As to the poll... who cares? Either way is fine. Different races are different.

I belive F1 is 2 hours or fewest laps over 305 kilometres

I see what you mean, they are very similar. I guess for tracks like the ring, i'd rather it said like 60 mins or 19 laps, because 19 doesnt sound like a lot to me :p

hours, because laps inclines you to probably use X2010 or FGT. I feel I enjoy the hour endurances better(excluding Tsukuba, of course).
