What is it?: A smallish (14.1" screen) laptop
What it costs: $799 USD
How long have you owned it? : Exactly 4 months
Pros:
- Relatively Cheap
- bright, crisp screen
- DVD burner w/ lightscribe
- 5-in-1 media card reader
- integrated wireless b/g and bluetooth
- "Euro" features like an AltGr button, and a dedicated € key
- 2 GB of RAM
- Large enough HDD (160 gigs)
- integrated webcame and microphone
Cons:
-Takes more than a minute to boot up
- Stupidly low battery life (2.5 hours on powersaver mode) makes it impractical for school
- incredibly sluggish on batter power
- Vistas "Aero" interface can bog down the fairly lightweight processor (1.46 ghz Pentium dual core)
- A bit too heavy (and expensive) to bring to school.
- Integrated graphics make it painful to run certain games
Overall: 7.5 of 10
On the whole, its a very good laptop, but I can't go terribly far away from an outlet, and I'll be purchasing an Eee in the coming months. (with the intel atom processor it should have over 10 hours of battery life!
