Hi my hp pavilion ultrabook 14-b003sa isn't booting. On Friday it was super slow, Firefox would take a minute to launch and Open office longer. So last night I updated a few drivers including rapid start, which wouldn't launch. I disabled, cleared the cache on the ssd and then tried to reboot. Now I'm getting a black screen with a hard drive error message. I'm guessing I deleted the boot manager which was for some reason on the ssd?
I ran a scan on the hdd and memory and all seems fine hardware wise and the hdd is present. I was able to boot Ubuntu and check the drives, all the data is present.
The recovery partition isn't booting so would I need to go down the route of getting a copy of windows 8 and installing it via usb? Would I be able to do this as I see no product key anywhere and I guess it comes activated on the recovery partition?
I have this feeling like I'm missing something (apart from the braincells!), if someone could help out it would be greatly appreciated.
