Laptop randomly freezes.

As the title says, my laptop has started to randomly freeze as of lately. It will do it whenever it feels like it; whether during playing games or browsing the net.

Anyone had this happen before? Might it be related to corrupt files in certain mod folders related to games? I've ran virus scans, nothing. I've also ran CCleaner.

Please do not tell me my harddrive has gone, the last thing I could use right now is my only PC dying on me

It could be overheating. You should blow out the vents on the sides and see if it helps and if not then it could be something worse..

I don't think it's that. My laptop rarely runs hot, and neither does it start to blow air on its highest setting. It's just a calm machine, and then just without a warning the screen and sound just freezes.

Unfortunately it could be a number of things. Faulty memory, faulty mobo, faulty GPU etc.

Does it have any onboard hardware diagnostics?

What make of laptop is it?
