Hey guys, so yesterday I upgraded to a 42inc LED TV and it is now my primary monitor and television. Its great and it is super sexual.

The only problem is when I sit on the couch with my wireless KB and mouse I cant read the text that is on the screen. I worked out how to make it bigger in control panel but while I like the enlarged text, the icons and other buttons enlarge exponentially also. This is really annoying because I hate the appearance of the large icons and I forked over a lot of money to enjoy high a high resolution display, as Im sure a lot of you others have too. The way it is now it is like the screen is set to its standard resolution, rather than being upscaled to 1080p, very annoying.

So my question is, is there anyway to increase the text size of the windows functions without increasing the size of the icons/taskbar?

Im using Windows 7 on an HP ProBook 6550b

Did you adjust the resolution or the display size?

Display size should make everything to scale, including icons.

Yes I have the resolution set to 1920x1080. I have it pretty good now for browsing but Ill show you some screens of what I mean.

Heres what I mean (sorry for huge picture)

You can see that the font size on the page is pretty big, which is good because Im about 2.5m away from the screen, but in the Word document, the fonts on the tab things are really small, same as in Google Chrome. I want a way to make these fonts bigger without making the taskbar or the other things (images on websites etc) larger also.

I hope that helps.

Ah.

In Windows XP, if you went to Display settings and in the Advanced Tab, you could change the text and (i think) button sizes in the actual windows to your preference. You will have to test it one at a time just to make sure it is the correct one you want.

I do have Windows 7, but I have not yet fully explored it all, so I cannot yet help you with that.... Try out the Display Manager or the Personalisation place.

It only takes a moment to change the resolution. Does it really make any difference if a word document is in 1080p?!!!

Set your screen to a lower resolution like 720. That's what i've done. As soon as I try and play a game that is set to 1080p, the display automatically adjusts. Same when I play a 1080p video. There really isn't any need to have a 1080p dekstop!
