Alright, I'm realitivly new to photoshop. What this means is I monkeyed around with it on 6.0 and now have 7.0. Here is where the problem is...

The lasso's are being a pain in my neck. It won't delete the selected information. When I try this is what I get...

"Could not complete your request because the content of the layer is not directly editable."

here is what I've done, step by step(to try to get help).

File > new. 300 by 200 pix with a transperant background.

Then I create a box in the middle. Just a regular box with the rectangle tool.

Then I take my polygon Lasso and make a triangle on a corner.

I then hit delete and get the error message.

I've read a ton of tutorials on this process, and they all just tell me that(the above process). I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

The layer isn't locked, nothing locked infact. Anyhelp you guys could offer into the subject would help me greatly. I'm rather frustrated at the moment.:banghead:

There is nothing do delete. There has to be some color in the box/ triangle. I think I'm right not this but don't yell if I'm wrong ;)

Do you use the lasso or the pen tool? I get that error when using the pen tool but not the lasso tool.

Thats the one. Try adding some colour into the image and tell us what happens then.

He said the Rectangle Tool tool. If you know your way around Photoshop and its tools, you would know there is a Rectangle Tool and a Rectangular Marquee Tool. The Rectangle Tool creates a rectangle and fills it with your foreground colour. The Rectangular Marquee tool on the other hand just makes a rectangular selection in which you can do what you want.

Assuming your using the Rectangle tool, then something is wrong with your version of Photoshop. If you meant the Rectangular Marquee tool however, then Omega Star is right.
