Spent the past week making a little addition to my cockpit.
Made using this excellent piece of kit from Leo Bodnar http://www.leobodnar.com/products/SLI-PRO/
Mounted on a piece of 3mm perspex that I cut and drilled holes out of before covering it in a piece of 3m Carbon Fibre vinyl. The display includes a rev counter, gear display, two digi displays that can show various things like speed, splits, lap time and 6 other LED's you can program to show all sorts. Can use it with most PC sims, just hoping they release a plugin for F1 2010!
Here's a quick vid of it in action with rfactor.
It also acts as a game controller so you can connect buttons etc to it, so next project is to make a small panel to mount to the right of it that will have 12 buttons, 2 rotary encoders and 2 twelve position switches to control what is displayed on the 2 displays either side of the gear display.
When I first saw these I thought, 'I'll never be able to make one of those', but it's pretty easier as long as your a bit handy, so if anyone fancies having a crack at making one, give me a shout and I'll help anyway I can.
