Apologies, I know this has probably been discussed previously - I did search but couldn't really find what I was after.

I thought I'd finally sit down and have a go at Le Mans 24hr. Before starting properly I thought I'd take a couple of cars round to see what I'd like to drive for 24hrs.

I took the Minolta round taking it relatively easy and only managed 2 laps on Racing Softs - tried for a 3rd just to see, but got half way round when the rears died on me completely, and had to limp back to the pits.

I just wondered really, is it a pit stop every 2 laps?

I know the most obvious response will be, take it even easier, but I was taking it easy, and only a few seconds ahead of 2nd place by end of lap 2.

I believe the AI's will pit approx every 5 laps?...

I didn't try RH's, but my experience has always been that running RS's and pitting more often has always been, mathematically, the quickest way to run the race.

Anyway, any advice, experience and help would be really appreciated, before I find I'm 23hrs into a race and I'm not going to win! Cheers :)

If I should use the Minolta, I would either start on Hard or Medium Racing, and maybe change to the Soft tyre.

- The Al drivers uses Hard, that's why they pit so late.

To whitemdp,

I've tried the Minolta at the 24hr Le Mans in GT5 (before the tire wear update).
And in my opinion its way to overpowered, and its tailhappy! Very tailhappy!

Also, the sound, its great... For 1-2 hours... When I was getting close to 15-16 hours, I really wanted to just quit.
But I just muted the TV, and put on some music instead.
Started doing lots of mistakes like fail shifting, overshooting corners etc...
Still won by like 25 laps or something.

Remember, this is 24 whole hours of racing, so going flat out in every corner, burning up your tires and needing to pit every two laps will be very frustrating after a while.

Racing hard tyres, a good pushy tune, and driving fast without pushing too hard.
Also i'd recommend a different car.
The group C prototypes are so powerful that they eat tyres with immense appetite unless you have very good throttle control.
