Le Mans car full beam question

Hello there. I have just brought the Peugeot 908 le mans style car and have noticed something which is a bit weird. i ve noticed when i put on the full beam lights they flash... is this normal and is there any reason why this is. The only thing i can think is for the 24 hour races others would see it coming up behind them better as it would get their attention but apart from that I can't see a reason why they would do that.

LMS cars flash their lights 3 times if they need to pass someone, its a "get out of the way" signal basically.

I think in real life the lights flash when the driver activates the pit-limiter when entering the pit lane.

ahhhh i see... makes sense i guess. not had a chance to drive it at night yet so may be different then but the get out the way makes sense as does the pit lane thing. thanks very much

maybe u shouldn't be driving slow in the fast lane, sheesh way to be a dick and not let ppl pass

lol I don't want to derail the thread by inducing the anger of my peers but the only time I don't get over is when I'm going 80-100 in a 70mph zone and there's plenty of room to pass on the right (usually late at night, no other cars). It's just the principal of the thing to me. I don't see how logically one can argue using the law as a defense when breaking the law by speeding. I don't want to aid and abed criminal activity ;) ANYWAY....sorry....ahem...(back to thread)

Then again I'm usually going faster than MOST people on the highway...

"Slower traffic keep right" doesn't say anything about "unless you think you're going fast enough already". If someone is flashing their lights, you're in the way. I've been bumping along at 95mph coming out of Houston, and saw someone coming up on me in the left lane. I moved over, and they BLEW BY me like I was standing still. They had to have been doing 140 or better, and I was glad to get out of their way. Big Benz AMG sedan.

Don't assume you're the fastest car out there, and don't act like you own the left lane. Treat the left lane as if it's for passing ONLY, and drive accordingly.

Hate to derail this even more than it already is, but I live in the Houston area and 95 mph is considered slow on some freeways like 45 and 59. I usually do 80 in the right lane and routinely have people BLASTING past, probably upwards of 100, and this is during the day. I got pulled over by a cop the other week going 90ish and thought "ohoho **** I'm going to jail". He pulled me over because I had a burned out headlight. I asked him out of curiosity how fast someone has to speed for him to pull them over and he said usually ~95 mph. Houston is a bad city to judge driving habits on lol.

It's right Tower Turn 13, don't act like you own the left lane. Because clearly in this thread, Kwicko showed you that he already owned it.

If you look in the button settings, there are two options. High/Low beams and flash high beams. I think you pressed the button for the latter.

Hardly. I *use* the left lane, for passing, and then move over right ASAP. And I don't assume I'm the fastest car on the road, because I'm generally not.

Yup, Houston is crazy like that. If I'm going 90-95, I'm not passing that many people.

hahahah yeah. People get really pissed about this and I find it amusing. I just think the logic of arguing that someone should be allowed to speed while other laws are enforced to their benefit is flawed. But again I'm just going to reverse out of this thread before I get run off the "information highway..."

But in Florida where I live I'm not ASSUMING I'm the fastest car on the road, I usually am (lots of retirees).

P.S. peace to everyone here--not tryin' to start any flame wars for shizzle.

But you were just saying above that YOU were speeding, and then you're trying to stop others from passing you by not moving over to let them pass.

You also said you didn't want to aid and abet their criminality, but you are participating in a criminal act yourself if you're already doing the 80-100mph in a 70 that you claim.

My main point is, I don't really care how fast you're going; if you're not in the act of passing someone, keep right. You might be speeding, but someone else might be speeding MORE.

Keep right except when overtaking.

And please stay on topic within the thread. We have threads elsewhere discussing proper highway etiquette.

If you've ever had a car follow you at night then there will have been times when you wondered if it was flashing its high beams at you - especially on a bumpy road.

This is why race cars often have a system that flashes the lights in a way that leaves the car in front in no doubt that it's being signalled.

I think the Calsonic Skyline does this too if I remember correctly...
