I'd suggest talking with him/her and maybe deciding on a long term plan. Either you could plan to run your series before/after his/hers has finished or maybe merge the two ideas into one series. I think the Long Race Series forum has sort of hit a saturation point in terms of how many race series the active driver population can support.
