Le Mans track problem.

In one of his books Martin Brundle talks about the Mulsanne Straight and says there are grooves where all the lorries trundle up and down the rest of the year.

Also at Monaco IRL you may note F1 cars (I guess GP2/3 as well?) dart to their right after Casino Sq on the run down the hill to avoid some rather nasty bumps.

I'm guessing you haven't played GT4 and 5 as it was the same in both of those games too; though it got better/more realistic with each successive game.

You say that you don't think it's the springs, though I always tune my suspension for Le Mans, which makes handling easier at high speeds. You need a softer set-up, trust me :)

Offcourse I played gt5. That's where the problem is. The track is the same. That you need to use softer setup on the fastest track on earth is just avoiding the problem.

Didn't they actually resurface the straight a year or two ago? It shouldn't be that bumpy anymore.

I think they did, but when going 180 MPH or more, it will never be smooth in a racecar.

They dart to the right to miss a bump.in the road caused by an intersection

Not really, the track in real life is/was like that and a softer setup absorbs the shocks more readily - a hard racing setup, which is normal and sounds like the one being discussed, will see your car skipping all over the track. It's not for nothing that rally racing on uneven surfaces goes for a very soft suspension setup and increased ride-height. So it's not really a problem of the game - it's how reality is and racing teams set up their cars to cope with the conditions accordingly.

To the point where if you cross from one lane to the next on certain parts of the straight, you're off the track and in the trees!

Never cross the centre. It's crowned. Pick one side or the other and stick to it. Advice provided by Alan Mcnish who knew a thing or two about that track.

I really wish we could get a "tracks" sub forum... I have so much to say about tracks but didn't feel general was a good place to post them...

We could have a "cars" sub forum as well. The tuning section is busting at the seams with garages and they are a bit competitive.

Having raced on several of the real life tracks in GT I'd love to post guides and tricks that work both in game and real life...
